So, are they deliberately using the Prowler's theme from Spiderverse for the trailer, or did Sony just hire the same composer and he re-used some themes?

It is a common practice to use music from other films in trailers. The music for the actual film may not be finished yet or may not have a piece that fits with the trailer. There are also composers that produce trailer music (that also get re-used), and the rare occasions where a film's composer writes a specific piece for the trailer.

Maybe the twist is that the asteroid he collided with is the one that was supposed to wipe them out, and he's inadvertently saved the dinosaurs.
