No, just not really ever using the Elemental Initiate's Fist - I just like Elemental Initiate for a build such as this one.

I must be missing something. Doesn't the Tempest bonus to damage apply to all weapon and close attacks? But only if wearing light armor or chain....

Also, clearly Rhythm blade wouldn't be in play at character creation, so I don't understand how you get a defender-level AC out of the box. I come up with starting AC of 17, as I noted.

Cloth is a kind of light armor, so you get the bonus.

Right. AC 17, which is high damage, low AC Defender, such as a two-handed weapon using Fighter or a Chainmail wearing Tempest Fighter.

Trying to figure out how the Staggering Alulak/Flail Expertise/Lashing Flail are working together on both the Cavalier|Battlemind and GISM.

On the C|B, Lashing Flail lets you slide on an MBA (presumably OAs), and Flail Expertise lets you prone- fair enough. But then your slide is gone, and you don't have the DEX to qualify for Dragging Flail, which would add back the slide. So what's the Staggering enchantment doing for you?

On the GISM variant, you MBA more often due to Combat Challenge. But the same issue as above is present at levels 11-12, and then at 13, when you drop Lashing Flail, you lose the MBA slide that gets you the Prone. And again, you can't qualify for the Dex for Dragging Flail, so what is Flail Expertise then doing for you that Devout Protector wouldn't, and what is the Staggering enchantment doing for you?

Staggering+Lashing Flail = big slide. Flail Expertise+Lashing Flail = prone. Both are useful for different reasons.

I don't drop Lashing Flail on either build?

Got it; wanted to see if there was anything I was missing.

You do refer to dropping Lashing Flail and Harlequin Style for Lasting Frost and Cunning Stalker at 13, but presumably you grab them back at 14/16.

Yup. That's more to show the offensive side rather than a clear cut move. I'd personally keep Lashing Flail+Harlequin Style and just pick up the other two options next.
