New Saturday Game: Indianapolis, IN

For the Saturday game that currently runs from 10am to 2pm, there are three players who have
committed to play. I am looking for at least two more to join us. We are getting together for
a one-shot this Saturday (April 21st) and the campaign starts next Saturday (April 28th). If you're
interested in playing in the game below, let me know ASAP. [e mail ferggm at hotmail dot com]

ABOUT THE GAME

Genre: Fantasy

The PCs will be a group of bounty hunters (yeah, that's right!) primarily charged with bringing individuals
to the waiting scales of justice. The primary focus will be on action (though there will be plenty
of role-play), the secondary focus will be investigations, trials, and judgments. The role of the
PCs will evolve in the game world as the campaign progresses and they will be doing more than
manhunts each session. The nature of the work will necessitate that the PCs work together as
a team as many bounties will be for the targets to be brought back alive.

The PCs are non-evil but there are no other alignment restrictions in place since they may choose
to operate inside or outside the law as the circumstances dictate. Whether they choose law or
chaos, good or indifference... there will be consequences as they run afoul of the influence of
various groups. Ethical quandaries will be present.

RULES

The D&D Player's Handbook and a d20 fantasy book called "Crime & Punishment" will be the main
sources for rules. Beyond the standard D&D classes & PrCs, the following three specialized classes
will be good choices for a PC:

Bounty Hunter (Core Class)
-----
Similar to the rogue class. This class focuses more on combat and using special attacks to subdue
opponents. They become good wrestlers and are able to deliver their painful subdual strike if they
can achieve a "pin." Painful strike can also be used on opponents who are denied their Dex
bonus. [you could also make a rogue that specializes in using the sap weapon...?]

Magehunter (Prestige Class)
-----
These martial characters never were magical (nor had magical abilities). They excel at combating
magic and immediately gain spell resistance. Their attacks disrupt casters and they have special
smite attacks that they can use on casters or creatures with spell-like abilities. They also gain
the ability to detect magic at will.

Spellbane (Prestige Class)
-----
Spellbanes are rare, they commit themselves to arcane studies and then mid-career they must
abandon the path of wizardry. They permanently lose old spell-list and gain a new limited list.
They excel in using magic to dispel magic. They also can detect magic at will.

GENERALLY SPEAKING

Here are some general roles that the PCs will want to have covered:

* Tracking - ranger or bounty hunter or character with Track feat. Survival and Gather Info
skills.

* Stealth & Observation - gather info, move silent, hide, spot, listen, open locks. bounty
hunters, rangers, monks, rogues.

* Countermagic - spellbane most effective, if use magehunter then the character must close quickly
on the enemy caster.

* Firepower - when fights go down, you may need a straight fighter for muscle. bounty hunter
and ranger have good combat skill. monk and bounty hunter are good at unarmed combat (subdual
damage). Spells like fireball are a little too messy. :)

* Taking Em Alive - magically, spells like charm, hold person, and sleep are better options.
Fighters can grab Improved Unarmed Strike and Stunning Fist, and go for disabling feats under
Combat Expertise.

We are getting close to full capacity. We are looking to add one more player.

The initial group make-up so far is:
druid
monk
ranger
rogue

A pure wizard would be most helpful, though any class would work (even one already "taken")
