More plot than humour this time - only Belkar got a laugh out of me.

That's one reason. The other is she wants a cat to kill the bird.

I think she just wants the bird to move right in front of her arrows' trajectory. If Kittyhawk can't be easily killed by a level 9+ rogue, I don't suppose Haley would expect a housecat to do the job.

The hawk, which IS named Kitty, is the familiar of the evil gnome druid, and he cast Stoneskin on it before sending it to attack Haley.

I got myself confused when my eyes accidentally skipped down a panel, on account of Nale and Elan changing places between intercut scenes, and initially thought that Thog had accidentally nobbled Nale. Darn lookalikes.
