If you recall they are living around a very small rift, its in the gem on the throne.

Was living around a small rift. The gem is gone, and the throne room, and the tower it was inside.

Looks like that rift has been wrenched open a little.

The rift is much higher than the tower was. I believe that rift is the epic scrying poking through Xykon's cloister as they look down through the cloud into purple.

Although it is purplish like the scribble drawings of the unsealed gates. . .

This is one of those 'Oh crap' strips where you pause to give those following along a chance to digest what they've just seen and be properly horrified by it.
