I highly enjoyed playing Lizardfolk Paladin (Oath of Ancients) in a previous game.

With natural armor and high Dex, my AC was good without heavy armor. I also used a whip, dueling style, and a shield.

The whip has low damage, but being able to smite with reach was kinda cool.

Lizardfolk Artificer could be fun.

You could kill creatures, make their remains into items, and then infuse the items.

A Lizardfolk with any Concentration spell and a big pond can cast the spell, jump in the lake, and swim away underwater while keeping the spell going. If the DM won't give you "range of concentration = unlimited" you can still Hold Breath and concentrate until one or the other time limits come up. Dealing with foes underwater is a headache.
