Photography Help

I have been messing with my lighting set-up using multiple lamps. Which of the following pictures looks better on you monitors? My home monitor is pretty dark. Please post an opinion of how to improve the photograph if you have an idea.

Remember the purpose is to highlight the painting and not to convey a mood

Well, since you asked, I happen to like the second pic better. Partly beacuse the background isn't quite as "flat" and, also, the tonal difference seems to help the details on the Mini as well (which, btw, looks VERY nice).
If I was to choose which pic to represent the mini, I would go with #2.

I can see more detail on #2. The first one looks a bit more flat.

It's a little too late, but I liked #2 as well.

The first looks like your shining a bright light on it, almost like that mindflayer was at a photoshoot. The second looks alot closer to it being in one of its tunnels; and to reality.
