It operates like a weapon. Precise shot is a good feat if you work with a lot of rays.dutorn said:Do you need precise shot to shoot a touch attack spell into melee? Or since it's not a physical weapon the minus to hit doesn't take effect?

Don't forget that Precise Shot has a prerequisite- Point Blank Shot.
Don't go too far down that feat chain, though- you'll get more milage out of Feats like Empower spell than the rest of the ranged combat feats, or even Weapon Focus (ranged touch attacks).
Your PC probably should equip himself with some kind of range weapon just to make sure he's not wasting spells when he could be flinging sling-stones or "grenades" for greater effect.

It's the best thing if the PC can afford to get a good Dex after picking high casting attribute plus Con.wildstarsreach said:Precise shot and pointblank shot seem to be favorite among spellcasters in our group. they work all the way upto 20th level and yes frank the dm is right.
Even without dex, it avoids the -4 penalty firing into melee which with the poor BA that a wizard has.Darklone said:It's the best thing if the PC can afford to get a good Dex after picking high casting attribute plus Con.
