Rise of the Empire

After a bit, Yaggl comes into the large room, a concerned look upon his face, "Gather seekers, there is much to discuss." As everyone settles into cushioned chairs of assorted sizes (there are cushioned benches for the spiderlings to perch upon) the doors open, admitting what first seems to be halflings. However, upon closer inspection, its obvious that height is the only similarity that these creatures share with halflings. They have sharp elvish features with seemingly glowing eyes of various colors. Their smooth skin is in a variety of shades of blue; their hands possess only three digits while their toes only two noticable toes. Their most distinct physical trait is the long 'devil tail' that bounces behind them. These creatures, bear in trays of food, drink, plates, cups, & utensils. They savory meat, vegatables, & unknown deserts set your stomach grumbling. The laden trays are set upon the large table. The group turns to leave though not before some of them give a wink & a nod at the 'smaller figures' of the group.

Yaggl nods at Theron who is nearest the pile of plates, "Go ahead & pass them out, we will talk as we eat as time has become short. Our guests, faen privateers are setting about to get us to Thear'Uk, our outpost in Xen'drik...the Captain assures us that he can get us their via a path that only the races of faen know...he promisses a day at most, but I have my doubts."

Yaggl pauses to eat a bit before continuing, "Our plight stars thousands of years in the past just before the arrival of those foul fiends, the lords of madness. At that time, among the Emperor's advisors, there was an advisor who began to have prophetic visions of the invaision that was to come. After hearing of the visions, the other advisors deemed him mad & exiled him upon penalty of death. A year passed, & stories of entire towns disappearing began to surface, then contact with horrible creatures occured, from mutated goblins to terrible spheres of destruction. The prophet returned & before he was to be executed, the Emperor heard him & ordered his release. Not until the dawn did the prophet leave his audience with the Emperor. Thus, the beginnings of what we are was founded. Treasures of many kinds were hidden upon Eberron. In places where only the brave or foolish would go. As the war escalated, it was apparent that the Empire would not survive----the prophet brought unto the emperor a leader from a tribe of giants known as the Chorrim. Upon that day, it was decided that the bloodline of Dhakaan would be taken from what is know Khorvair & hidden upon the giants' ancient homeland in the south."

Yaggl takes a long drink from a sweet, unknown liquor, "The Chorrim led the Emperor's family & 1000 retainers away, taking a wealth of a nation with them. Two days later, the Emperor, with a mound of foul corpses around him, fell to the minions of the dalkyer. The prophet was slain as well, though, an essence of him survived within his flesh stipped bones. Upon the skin of the dead he did write of the future. The future that would entail a great war that would leave a nation of invaders broken & weak. That time is now."

A burp escapes Yaggl as he takes another drink, "Six months ago, acting on some information we obtained, a task force found an ancient town that was once part of the giants' empire. Evidence recovered there has confirmed that the chorrim & hobgoblins that left the empire had stopped there. Thus as prophesized upon the skins of illithiads, unique allies were founded & a new city began to be built upon the foundations of the old..."

Magruut stirs at his food absently, yellow eyes narrowed in thought.

"So an heir to the Dhakaani empire may still live among the tribes of Xen'drik. Such an heir would have a claim to the throne of Darguun. Even if the heir did not return to rule, their support for one of the Dhakaani factions could be enougn to unite the tribes. It could tip the balance of power against the tyrant Haruuc."

He pauses before looking at Yaggl.

"Do the prophecies say what will happen if an heir is returned?"

« I suppose what will happen is a civil war between the followers of Lesh Haruuc and the followers of the rightful Heir. This could weaken the whole nation of Darguun and strangers from Breland or Valenar may want to take advantage of the strife to invade. So, we'll have to be very careful, I think. We don't want outsider spies to learn this. And we may have to convince Lesh to forego the throne peacefully, in the best interest of the nation. »

Vitalis' emotionless face is betrayed by the concerned tone in his/her voice.
