Feia unguentum

Since "feia" is Latin for fey, it could be used for the genus name for fey with no real analogous creature type, AND as the species name for creatures that do.

Living spells-I would go with a latinized version of the spells name combined with unicellious myself.

I think you're on a good track, but I'm thinking something like...

Medeisvivens ("magical life") as the genus name and a latinized spell name- or even an abbreviated form of the spell name- for the species name would work.
