D&D 3E/3.5 Scientific names

OK, what I would do is base the genus name on the base creature type and the species name on the kind of undead they mimic.

So, for example, if there is a "human" pseudoundead that mimics zombies, I'd call it "Homo Zombii".

That's a tough one too. I wouldn't go "homo" since they can mimic all kinds of humanoids & demihumans.

Proteus vulgaris? The common shapechanger? This could work, since there are other shapechangers AND some doppelgänger subtypes.

"Polyhedrus" would be a good species name, but their genus escapes me at the mo.

Sinc they're natives of Mechanus, Mechanus polyhedrus

Not a clue as to what that is.

Basically it's a goblins that can stretch out or squash in it's limbs and emit a oil that can either be slippery or sticky as needed.
