B'rii, Magus 3

Feeling a bit under the weather (HP 20/23 after the night's rest), B'rii stays in the library at the house to read some himself, not wanting to leave their hostess alone.

OOC: Research the planes to see if any outer planar beings at work in the area?

[sblock=B'rii]The professor obviously thought that their might be an extra planer origin to some of the mysterious things he has observed over the years at some point in his career. There are several books on such things in his collection. It does not appear that he found any evidence of powerful extra-planer being operating locally. As you continue to read in the collection it is soon revealed that he rejected this hypothesis of extra planer troubles in favor of thinking that the Whispering Way, a cable of Necromancers that see undead as a fountain of youth are behind the things going on here. "Yes, please. That would be delightful."

She brings both you and your companion a round of tea with honey and cream. The tea is mild, but pleasant and the local honey and fresh cream excellent.

OOC: The group has gotten scattered, but you've found a few clues. When I have a little more time tomorrow I will attempt to reunite you.

Falco enjoys the Tea with Dannis and when the food arrives, he also enjoys it (happy to feel he is not having to put his host out). When all is gone or when their bellies are full, they will make their goodbyes. Falco will tip the kind keeper well (another GP) and head back to the house.

B'rri speaks up, "I can stay here. I want to look for something in the library on local legends."

B'rii decides to switch research topics to local legends about undead. He will look for anything that ties the Whispering Way to any local legends about undead. B'rii stretches and walks about the house to see if Kendra knows anything.

OOC: Not sure which Know score would help, so here's a naked roll... or not.

OOC: We'll use your earlier roll since you really didn't get as much information as you should have for it.

[sblock=B'rii]Kendra tells you that "The Whispering Way is a sinister organization of necromancers that has been active in the Inner Sea region for thousands of years. Agents of the Whispering Way often seek alliances with undead creatures, or are themselves undead. The Whispering Way’s most notorious member was Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, although the society itself has existed much longer than even that mighty necromancer. My father was very interested in them." He did a lot of research. Together you search his notes and some of his recently referenced books to find that The Whispering Way itself is a series of philosophies that can only be transferred via whispers—the philosophies are never written or spoken of loudly, making the exact goals and nature of the secretive philosophy difficult for outsiders to learn much about. The professor was obviously spending a lot of effort on this. Clearly, exact details on the society are difficult to discern, but chief among the Whispering Way’s goals are discovering formulae for creating Liches and engineering the release of the Whispering Tyrant. Agents often travel to remote sites or areas plagued by notorious haunts or undead menaces to perform field research or even to capture unique monsters. "Father was convinced they were active in the area and maybe even at Harrowstone." Further digging in the notes reveals that their symbol is a gagged skull, and those who learn too many of the Way’s secrets are often murdered, and their mouths mutilated to prevent their bodies from divulging secrets via speak with dead. At this point Kendra looks very pale. "They said stonework fell on father, his face was crushed. Do you think perhaps..." She puts the back of her hand to her mouth unable to say more. Tears well up in her eyes.[/sblock]
