Just noticing the beast, Devlin jumps with a bit of surprise.

"Never before have I seen such a beast! Is he friendly?"

Devlin begins to make his way back over to the bar and squats down slightly to get a better look, slowly raising his hand toward the pooches fur to pet him.

"As long as he gets beer, he won't eat you. [*cough* he still hides and suppresses his laughter] Oh, and he has a ravenous appetite for flesh that is equaled only for his thirst for beer."

Devlin turns away from the pup with lightning speed and reaches for the nearest ale he can find (which just happens to be Darvus's). Over the shouts and proclamations, he immediately shoves the foaming brew toward the dog in hopes for a friendly encounter, completely missing the slight chuckle that slips from Vincenzo.

" I've heard this is a good spot for some adventure work. Any truth to this ? "

Sliding the silver off the bar and into his well muscled hand, the half orcish bartender considers Drake a moment. "All sorts people come in 'ere looking for hired help. Escortin. Hired muscle. Killin' rats. Can be gud coin." He turns to draw a beer, setting it in front of the uniformed man. It's immediately obvious his bare arm is scarred in several places as he draws it back and thinks a moment, giving Drake a silent appraisal. "Take gud jobs, don get cocky, you be fine."

Darvus startles at the sight of the animal, but collects himself. "Uhh, nice doggy," he says as he gingerly scratches its ears.

A well attired venzin and a halfling are sitting at the bar when Drake walks in. [no, this is not the start of a joke] "Greetings Drake, yes this is a great place to get work. You just wait, and it will find you."
Drake pulls down his hood and grabs his Tricorne from his backpack. With his hat he gestures gratitude towards the stranger and puts it on his head.

Drake also shares the Vincenzo's amusement Devlin's reaction. He was sure it was quite dangerous and hoped he never would upset such a beast... up close at least, but its puppy demeanor told a story that it was well trained and not some mindless animal.

The former guard appreciates the beer with a nod. Taking notice of the Half-Orc's scars Drake can't help but to feel a bit curious but knows well enough not to pry. What ever had happened to him, must have been painful and not all stories are worth being retold. " So, as a former adventurer, got any tips on how to tell the good jobs from the bad? "

The wolf eagerly sticks his snout into the mug of ale and empties it with astounding speed. Satisfied, he sits back and belches loudly. The tiefling barmaid glances sidelong at the wolf and says, "Didn't that elf you hang out with teach you any manners?"

"Oh, sorry. 'Scuse me,"
the wolf says.

"Gotcha again, Boots," she says, smirking.

"What ... ? Aw, come on!"

Devlin claps excitedly upon hearing the wolf speak to the barkeep.

"Not only did you drink all that beer, but you talk as well?!?! Oh my what a fascinating puppy!"

He gently pats the pup on the head as he examines this new found mystery.

Darvus sighs with relief as the beer mug in front of him is emptied by the animal. He then slowly clutches his mug of milk closer to his chest.
