Ah yes, that is what I've been missing by not coming here as much.

The time honored tradition of seeing people take other people's statements in the worst possible light, twist them to match the argument they want to fight against, and proceed to demand that they are just responding to what someone has to say.

Right. The polls usually indicate the latter. Even I've had a few bad DM experiences. Having encountered them at some point doesn't make them common.
