Djamir runs as fast as his short legs will carry him almost oblivious to the creatures until they are almost wihin reach. He stops short and casts Mage Armor. Then gets his club out and waits for the others to act.

In the crude clearing Khusrau runs to the left of the creatures, hoping to give the feasting creatures a wide berth and continue in his flight from the 'quickearth'. Following in his footsteps Tarim keeps his eyes on the creatures as the they pass alongside the creatures, and cautiously prepares for the thing's responses to them once they get in their field of vision.

The forms of Djamir and Khalas move to the rear of the creatures, pausing briefly while Kharas peers through the dust and Djamir draws upon the mystical energies of Solaris to form a glowing golden breastplate about his chest to protect him (duration: 1 hour).

OOC: Khalas Spot check DC 19.

Through the cloud of dust the creatures seem somewhat smaller than normal humans and demi-humans, their forms bent and twisted into horrid shapes that seem to reflect their horrible cannabalistic nature. Their bodies are covered in a rough stained-white scaly skin, and their faces are pointed into a snout with short sharp fangs protruding from thir mouthes.

OOC: Creature's Listen check DC 11. <failure>

OOC: Khalas Intelligence check DC 11. <pass>

Khalas recognizes the creatures as underground dwellers called the Wjauld, small but barbaric creatures that fear the light of Solaris unless desperately hungry or forced to the surface by larger creatures. Once they spot prey they hunt it for up to days at a time (at least underground) or harry settlements near entrances to their underground lairs. Individually weak in combat, they roam in large packs to take down any dangerous creatures that they stumble upon.

OOC: Rogue's Gallery updated.

The Wjauld are too busy devouring their previous victims to notice anybody at the moment (though no-one is yet in their field of vision). It seems that it may still be possible to sneak past the creatures without any further conflict.

Solaris Tip #6: Magical swords and permenant items all have names and histories. Simple +1 swords do not exist, for Solaris enrichens all magic with different effects.

Khalas whispers to the others "I can see these creatures clearly, friends. They are the wjauld. If there are only two of them here then they are no real threat to us."

Djamir seems to enrage when he hears what they are. "Thier kind killed my aunt on a caravan route in the deep south. They live no longer."
He runs at the nearest of the creatures and brings his club down on it's head.

Khusrau curses Djamir's foolishness as he runs in to assist him, slashing his blade across the creature's guts. "Sun-addled camel-brained son of ten thousand fathers."

Djamir's screams cut through the rumblings and yelling throughout the encampment, and the dwarf launches himself upon the closest of the two creatures wielding a heavy looking club crafted solely for the purpose of caving in skulls no doubt.

OOC: Djamir's surprise round. Club +0 melee, hits AC10 <hit> for 5 points damage.

The club swings through the air and collides against the side of the first creature's skull, knocking to the ground with a sickening crunch. Sickly green blood instantly mixes with the earth, and the spasms of the creature cause the fluid to pump irregularly from its ears.

The enraged form of the stocky dwarf encased in mystical golden armour shocks the second Wjauld into action, snarling at its attacker and baring blood bathed fangs and him.

OOC: Initiative -

Khusrau 18
Tarim 16
Wjauld 12
Djamir 11
Khalas 7

Djamir stands before the wjauld with club in hand at the centre of the clearing, Khusrau standing but a step behind him with blade drawn in preperation to assist the dwarf. Tarim and Khalas are standing some fifteen feet to the rear of the creature, still unnoticed by it and in perfect flanking position.

OOC: Actions gentlemen...

Khusrau simply steps forward and hacks downward inelegantly, seeing no need for fancy tactics or maneuvers.
