Maybe not where you live, but in Canada I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

It would be illegal in the US as well. Not that it would stop someone from not hiring you. It would be very hard to determine that was the reason however. Prejudice in all its many colors is ugly.

Which way do you prefer to explain this passion to your friends.

Option A:
You forgot a couple of Options.
C: "Come watch sometime." That's how I've gotten several players.
D: "Here, read this" and hand them a game book.
E: Glare at them, and ask, "Do you have a problem with it?" I've used that one a few times as well, and the answer was always "Umm . . . no."

As for the rest of your post, well, I don't know what to say. I seriously doubt "d20 Fantasy" would be any more acceptable to people who are going to think ill of your for playing. Like you said, you're grown up, so I can only think of two options for you.
1. Put away childish things. Either it's too much hassle or it's not. If it is, quit.
2. Get over it. Screw em. They're not worth the trouble.

I'm 31, and I've been playing since I was 15. I've never had a problem with it. if someone thought badly of my gaming, they were perfectly free to plant their lips on my posterior. Still are. I don't live my life to explain crap to people who don't want to understand, and IMO, neither should anyone else.
