Fair enough..
Hanjia:
The trollocs in the road had formed a good, solid line. The highly skilled desert warriors kept a healthy dose of confusion in the mix, though, preventing the shadowspawn from forming an effective counterstrike and still hold the road.
To Hanjia's best guess, the trollocs were not present in the numbers she had been worried about. There were many of them, but perhaps a fist at most scattered throughout the area, many of them dead by now.
Her arrow barely finding flesh, Hanjia heard human cries of pain for the first time that day. From the south, where 2 bands were supposedly working to keep the flanks clear. Trolloc roars sounded soon after, perhaps 100 feet away through the cover of the forest.

combat: Hanjia hit with her arrow. a wisdom check was made to see how accurately Hanjia could interpret reports from other groups that cross paths with hers to venture a guess at the number of trollocs about. A listen check was also made, which succeeded.

Al'Shain:
Whipping his blades about as he spun to face his new rivals, Al'Shain absently complimented himself on the pair of quick, clean kills and hoped he could keep the pace up.
Al'Shain dropped to one knee and plunged his swords downward at 2 of the clinging trollocs. From their akward position, neither beast could aptly dodge the swordstrokes, and Al'Shain connected with each blade. The grinding sound coming from the wheels of the moving vehicle eased immediately as one of the trollocs clutched his wound with the hands that were holding his weight to the carriage a moment earlier. Al'Shain ducked back to avoid any retaliation or low blows as the two remaining trollocs climbed over the edge.
The borderlander had a moment to survey the situation before the next pair of enemies would be in a position to engage him.
Fewer than 30 trollocs persued behind the carriage, and a few more were joining from the woodland surrounding the road. The few beasts that decided to stay at full pace while charging through the forest were dropping fast. The half-dozen archer trollocs were not far behind on the road; just out of bow range but keeping a steady pace.
The formed line on the road was rapidly approaching, and seemed to be in the trollocs' standard state of disarray. Trollocs came to the line at a trickle, but it did not seem to be swelling. Al'Shain couldn't get a clear count, having just glimpsed the formation, but he estimated about 15 at first glance, and as many this time. Had he time to ponder, Al'Shain might have noted the discrepancy that didn't account for the 8-10 trollocs he saw running to the line or across the road each time.
As it was, Al'Shain only glanced at the approaching formation, and silently willed a quick prayer to the Creator that the horses would not faulter, that they would charge that line like they must.
"We must break through. We'll be swarmed any other way." Al'Shain growled to himself as the 2 beasts, one wounded, one just tired from the chase, rose to their feet at the edge of the roof.
Al'Shain's words were lost to the wind, but the driver seemed to hear them all the same, and redoubled his vigorous lashing of the whip as he shouted louder and faster at the horses to 'Git on!' or 'Bloody MOVE!'

One of the 2 trollocs failed the climb check to retain his hold after being struck. 2 are now on the carriage, one uninjured, the other having taken 10 damage. The next wave of trollocs will take hold of the carriage at the end of the next round (the one you're posting for), impact with the formation will occur 3 rounds after that.

Audrey:
"A gray man you say?" Audrey thought she detected a hint of suprise in the Aes Sedai's voice. "There doesn't seem to be anyone here now, you may untie your weave and release saidar ." She said, now in a more commanding tone.
"Audrey, right?" The sister asked. Audrey vaguely remembered having studied with this sister for several days with 3 other girls, going over some of the finer points of weaving Air in conjunction with Spirit. Diafeni was the name Audrey's mind placed to the Aes Sedai.

"Yes, Aes Sedai." Audrey answers all the questions with one answer and then unties her weave and releases saidar. She waits for Diafeni to speak before she says or does anything else.

Hearing the cries of wounded men and the triumph of Trollocs is more then enough to send the lone Far Darais Mai, wounded as she may be, dashing southwards through the underbrush. Dodging and weaving between the dense foilage, the Maiden moves only as quiet as her quick pace allows, hoping the din of battle will cover most sounds of her approach to give her once more the edge of surprise.

OOC: sorry, got company in town tonight, real quicky..

IC:

Hanjia:
"It seems the maiden grows bored." One of her companions commented to the other.
"I don't blame her." Another replied. Both looked to eachother, and as if some silent communication had passed, both slung their bows behind their backs and dashed through the underbrush to join in the hunt for new opponents.

ooc spot check revealed movement about 40 feet ahead, perhaps 6 bodies, 2-3 trollocs, the rest human sized (all with 3/4 cover at this distance due to tree trunks and underbrush).

Al'Shain:
Al'Shain pressed the trollocs immediately with a rush of swordstrokes. Each was unable to connect against Al'Shain, and by the time he stepped back, one trolloc lay dead with its sword-arm hanging over the edge, the other staggering under a leg wound.

combat: both attacks hit, one trolloc killed, the remaining one failed to hit.

Audrey:
"Very well then Audrey. I'll see that your message is delivered to Immyenne sedai with haste. What or where is it? You may report to the infirmary and get yourself Healed. But I think it may be better for you to say...something different than what you told me. In the meantime, I will have the situation investigated. A Gray Man in the tower is a very serious issue, Audrey. You are sure of what happened, I hope? Details will be requested later.

Audrey nods and hands Diafeni the message. "Yes, Aes Sedai, I'm sure of what happened. I'll head off to the infirmary now." The initiate curtseys and heads off, trying to think of what she'll tell the infirmary without lying. She eventually resolves to tell them that she was walking through one of the libraries and wasn't looking where she was going. It was unsatisfying, but had the benefit of being entirely true, even if it was slanted just a wee bit.

Taking a quick breath behind a thick tree trunk, Hanjia quickly changes her weapons again.

Too many trees for the bow. I've seen 6 figures, at least half of them Trollocs. How many do you count?
the Maidens agile fingers question her new companions. Despite their taunting, she can't help but be relieved at having some support now. Whatever the Shadowspawns goal in the wetlands might be, among her fellow Aiel there is no doubt left for Hanjia that they will hunt down every last one of them.

Reading the answers of her Algai'd'siswai from the corner of the eye, the Maiden takes a quick glance around the tree, trying to gather a bit more information about the fight up ahead.

--------------------------------------

OoC:

1. 6 bodies? does that mean they are dead/unconcious? is there fighting?

2. could one charge the 40 ft. or does the underbrush prohibit that? Would it be possible to sneak up on them?

3. Two Aiel joined me? Are they Far Darais Mai? What are they up to?

Hanjia:
ooc Due to the cover, only movement can be easily seen, bodies on the ground are uncountable from Hanjia's position, so the 6 I referred to were up and moving. Also due to the terrain, straight-line movement (like charge) is pretty much impossible (normal move actions, dbl move, 5-footers, and run actions are all ok because they don't state that they must have a straight line, and due to the layout of the combat grid, diagonal movement doesn't hinder your normal movement. (using 3.5 D&D rules for cover/concealment cuz I didn't see either in the WoT glossary)-both Hanjia and the conflict have improved cover and concealment from each other, granting 20% miss chance, +8 ac, +4 to reflex and +10 on hide checks against the opposing party, making a sneaky approach quite viable. The 2 Aiel are male, and about 20 feet behind Hanjia and following, also having changed over to spears in favor of bows.

In response to her query, the two warriors peer through the trees as they approach Hanjia's position. One held up his buckler hand with all of his fingers straight. He counted five. The other held three fingers straight, with his last finger crooked at the second knuckle, indicating six.
Looking more closeley herself, Hanjia agreed with her initial guess of six. Unable to see the entire conflict at any one moment, it was difficult for the maiden to get a clear count, but she identified at least 2 different trollocs, and 2 different Aiel (one maiden and a thunder walker).

ooc: spot check revealed the above information, search check failed to reveal anything of note.

Al'Shain:
The borderlander seemed to have worked out a rythm very quickly. When he felt his primary blade strike flesh, Al'Shain twisted and levered the blade downward, further complicating any wound the trolloc might have, should it survive. The consideration became moot when the beast toppled from its perch atop the carriage.
His last opponent for the moment dead, Al'Shain skittered again to the back of the carriage, hoping for another cheap shot. Crouching near the back right corner, Al'Shain peeked over the edge just in time to watch one of the next wave of trollocs leap from the road, catch a hold with its free hand on the rear of the vehicle, and bring its axe down in a mighty arc toward the would-be ambusher.
Al'Shain leapt back after barely flicking his second blade toward the trolloc to avoid the blow. The black metal axe cut the brass luggage rack and bit through the back edge of the carriage. A scream issued from the carriage as the blade became noticeable inside the cabin.
The carriage lurched a second time as the second trolloc took hold.

combat: first attack hit. I took the liberty of moving al'shain 5 feet to accomodate the second attack (though it missed). Al'Shain is now in position to knock either or both of the 2 trollocs off next round.

Audrey:
"What a mess." Audrey wasn't sure exactly if she was referring to her predicament or the 50-gallon stock pot she was scraping at from the inside. A wire brush clutched in both hands, Audrey had to swing herself forward and back on her knees, resting all of her weight on the brush to scrape through the morning's burned oat meal. The going was slow, and very tiresome.
Audrey was alone in the wash room now. Several more pots, pans, and stacks of eating dishes and utensils littered the room, and water heated slowly by a small fire. Audrey's dress was filth-encrusted already, and her dark brown hair was disgustingly coated with oat bits and starchy, gray fluid from the pot she seemed lost in.
Audrey was glad she would have 30 minutes to bathe and change between her stint as a dishwasher and her late morning obligations.
To keep her mind off of her aching upper arms and wrists, Audrey went over the events of the last evening silently.
She had reported to the infirmary as 'suggested' by Diafeni. She was Healed, as expected, and aside from an especially hearty appetite at dinner and breakfast this morning, Audrey now suffered no ill effects from her 'incident'. Her summons had come that same evening, to Miala Sedai's antechamber.
Miala Sedai, from what Audrey understood, had many ears among all of the Ajahs, and especially within her own, they Gray Ajah.
Miala had questioned Audrey intensely for 30 minutes, never hinting at any emotion or preconception, but keeping Audrey a step behind her, rapidly switching the angle of her inquery or the nature of her questions so a great deal of information passed Audrey's lips with no clear direction that she could follow. After that session, Brienne Sedai stepped into the room from the other side of the heavy curtain that divided the large antechamber.
At Miala's lead, Brienne Sedai stated clearly that she had heard Audrey's recount, and had spoken personally with Brienne and Diafeni Sedai, and all accounts did not add up. She also, quite clearly, after making note for Audrey's benefit (though she did not need it) that she could not lie, said that she had never sent Audrey to find Iemynne Sedai.
Miala then spoke, and Audrey remembered every word:
"Accepted Audrey; your account of the incident in question has been refuted.
"The broken chair has been recovered from the premesis and will be repaired, and the alleged knifemark in the doorjam will be patched. As no proof exists that you made the damage yourself, you will not be assigned punishment for that.
"However, by persisting with your story and swearing by it, you have mislead one Aes Sedai, implicated two more, and wasted the time of a fourth.
"My adjudication of punishment is that the incident in question be delegated to the Mistress of Novices and it no longer be considered a breach of Tower Security."

***

Perhaps paranoid from recent events, Audrey slipped a bit and nearly got rolled across the floor in a filthy food pot when she popped her head out, thinking someone in the room with her. Nothing. The cook could be back any time to check on progress, and Audrey was afraid she would be upset. The Accepted had been working alone for some time, and would be for another 20 minutes until she was finished for the time being.

Audrey continues scrubbing, slightly confused and rather annoyed at just about every aspect of her predicament. But I never lied. If Brienne Sedai didn't send me off to see Iemynne Sedai, then who did? She sighed. It didn't really matter. She had no chance of convincing the Aes Sedai of anything once they were set against her and trying to do so would only make things worse.
