I get normal ads, but I get those ghost ads sometimes, too.
Me too.

I don't. Im getting tactical bikini ads for no reason that is known to me. Im gay, I watch gay porn, but Im not getting tactical jock-strap ads
I've had a lot of ads that are pretty far removed from my interests as well. I don't think that it's as "revealing" of your browsing history as @Morrus seems to think. He's right that it's generated from your history, but a computer can easily go down a totally nonsensical rabbit-hole when they throw in something like "Our research shows that 65% of people who like this... also like THIS!" Do that for two or three iterations and you've got absolute nonsense for any given individual person.

Hey, there's a good example: As I went from posting the above post to another thread, I got an ad for Nicorette. I don't smoke. Never have. Heck, I don't even chew gum! What part of my "browsing history" do you think gave the ad algorithm the idea that I might like it?

I honestly think that most ads are a waste of time and money, though, so who am I to judge these things?

(I get why Morrus needs us to put up with them, though!)

I think they also use that "create a cloud of your friends" and friend list, so that you can tell your friends about this neat product you saw an ad for.

You talk like an adblocker isn't an essential tool when surfing the web?
I would like to get the ads manageable and allow Morrus to financially benefit from me showing up without adblocker enabled.

If Facebook's 'suggested for you' entries are any indication, simple male gender and 18-60 age range (and maybe D&D/RPG interest) is enough to get one slotted into the 'you probably would be interested in funny internet meme-related stuff [such as cat petting chart], scantily clad women, and tactical-______s' advertising bucket (along with so many AI-generated Star Wars/Trek/MCU fandom-sites).
