Warrior/Fighter Build Challenge

Lord Torin

First Post
What can you do with a 5th level character? Human, 1st level must be Warrior, beyond that must use WOTC products only. 26 point buy. Looking for the toughest Fighter Type possible. Forgotton Realms setting, can use any region, but campaign will be based in Chult.

All suggestions will be appriciated.

How about a whirlwind attacker?
13 int and dex
3 levels of barbarian(or paladin or ranger)
2 levels of fighter
Feats
1st Dodge, combat expertise
3rd Mobility
4th(ftr1) Spring attack
5th(ftr2) Whirlwind attack

Still haven't had a chance to try that one in play...

Don't have Forgotten Realms, but here ya go:

If you mean that the 1st level has to be the NPC Warrior class, then here is a fairly "meat and potatoes" fighter. You can throw javelins until your opponent gets into range, and then draw your sword and charge him.

1st Warrior: Point Blank Shot, Far Shot
2nd, 1st Fighter: Exotic Weapon Prof. Bastard Sword,
3rd, 2nd Fighter: Quickdraw, W-Focus: Bastard Sword
5th, 4th Fighter: W-Spec: Bastard Sword

If you prefer a "pure meelee" type then take Power Attack, Cleave at 1st, and Improved Toughness (from Complete Warrior) instead of Quickdraw at 3rd.

Stats:

Str: 17 (Improve to 18 at 4th level)

Dex: 11 (on the off chance you find a magical tome that increases Dex by an odd number)

Con: 16

Int: 8
Wis: 8
Chr: 8

Skills: Ride (8 ranks), Handle Animal (5 ranks), Intimidate (3 ranks) (If you will never ride a horse, then: Intimidate (8 ranks), then max out either Swim (if your DM is a mean DM) or Jump (otherwise)).

Equipment: +1 Full Plate, +1 Large Shield, +1 Bastard Sword, Ring of Feather Falling, 2 Potions Cure Mod. Wounds, 3 Potions Cure light Wounds, 3 javelins, 12 gp. If you need more money, sacrifice a potion or two.

Tripping is really good in 3.5 cause standing up provokes an attack of opportunity.

I like:
Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Spiked Chain)
Combat Expertise
Improved Trip
Combat Reflexes

When you get knocked down, stand up again... and get knocked down again.

Ok: Uber Knight...

Human from Cormyr; Warrior 1/Fighter 4; LG or LN Alignment

Skills: Ride (6), Diplomacy (1.0) Spot (2.0), Listen (2.0), Know: Nobility (4.0)

Minimum Skill Points: 22 (Your Human + Minimum Class should cover this.)

Feats:
1.) Power Attack, Either Furious Charge or Saddleback [Players Guide]
2.) Cleave*
3.) Negociator, Mounted Combat*
4.)
5.) Great Cleave*

Now, Level 6 should be Purple Dragon Knight (FRCS, Complete Warrior, or Players Guide to Faerun) Take 2 levels of PDK (making sure your now class skill diplomacy is at 6 ranks) and start Knight Protector (Complete Warrior) Alternate between PDK and KP until both are maxxed out at level 20.

For Feats from this point on, stick with either horse feats (if you get to ride alot) or feats off the power attack tree. You also have enough fighter levels to get weapon focus and Spec in a melee weapon (longsword, longsword, longsword). Skills should focus on Diplomacy, Ride, and whatever other choices you want.

Advantages: Supreme Cleave Allows you to muscle through LOTS of smaller foes quickly. KP grants Good Will Save and Iron Will (stopping you from turning on your friends). Heroic Shield and Defensive Stance stack when on the guard, Good BAB and d10 HD thoughout, and skill lists are similar.

Disadvantages: Only normal feat progression, which can cramp a melee fighter's options. High Cross Class Skill Requirement in the beginning.
