D&D 5E What Level 20 Class Would Win?

Which Class Would Win?

The Shadow Sorcerer is susceptible against any area of effect that passes through walls. Umbral Form is defeated by any spell that incapacitates, some of which are low enough level that a 20th level caster can afford to risk wasting them on a held action and some others can pass through walls. The Moon Druid wildshapes repeatedly until the Shadow Sorcerer runs out of resources, and, in Earth elemental form, can both pass through stone and has double damage against walls. If Simulacra are allowed than a Wizard can bring dozens of them. Hiding behind walls will keep the Shadow Sorcerer from being able to counterspell their opponent. Distance advantages are only a huge boon when there is a frontline of allies keeping your enemy from closing that distance and almost no enemy would be fighting them from 620 feet away. One of the few that might is a Warlock with Spell Sniper and Eldritch Spear, so be prepared for 4 d10+5 held Eldritch Blast force damage attacks every time he pops out of cover, from which he has no resistance so don't count on holding concentration.

It's a strong contender, but it being the winner is far from obvious.

What's spell can pass through walls??

Moon druid. Simulacrum's Empowered Insect Plague +20 damage (Radiant Soul)+ Shadow Sorcerer Power Word Kill.

Also, Warlock range is 600 x Sorcerer's 620's that ignores cover and his simulacrum doubles it. Warlock's eldritch blast can't do nothing against Umbral Form inside walls. The Sorcerer can cast Distant Dimention Door for teleporting 1000ft and counterspell the warlock too easily.

Infinite loop? The sorcerer also can do it, but twinned and still coffeelocking. But, It will never come to play.

Antimagic Field with Shadow Sorcerer's Umbral Form + Aasimar's Radiant Soul for extra +20 damage is too scary, move through walls to get total cover and surprise enemies, resistence against all damage and spell immunity is too scary against spellcasters.

My overall vote goes to wizard; so many ways to dispense death.

But honestly, if a non-eldritch knight fighter got the iniatiative and was 30 feet away, has he got a chance to mince the other classes before suffering retaliation?

Wizard all the way. At least against the classes in the PHB. We did quite a few simulations and wizards, unless extremely unlucky, usually get the upper hand. In wizards vs wizards, the diviner usually won because he would always win the initiative. With the warmage and his bonus to initiative, it might be something else.
Of course we did not do thousands of simulatons. It was the 3 out 5 match kind of fights. Moon druids and oath of the ancient paladins were close contenders with moon druids slightly above. The weakest on one on one fight were all rogue related. No sneak pretty much nullify the class. The swashbuckler might do better, but we did not tested it in such simulations.

It completely shut down spellscasters like Wizard and Druid...
But... It also defeat melee characters, wtf...

"Heavy Armor Master feat
ou can use your armor to deflect strikes that would kill others. You gain the following benefits:

  • Increase your Strength score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • While you are wearing heavy armor, bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage that you take from nonmagical weapons is reduced by 3."

Fighter damage x Armored Shadow Sorcerer.
+11 atk vs 20 AC Sorcerer (25 with shield).

Damage. 2d6 +5. Average 12 per atack.
Umbral form halves it for 6 damage and Heavy Armor Master reduce -3.
3 damage per hit...
If you are inside an Antimagic Field, the weapon become nonmagical. 100% granted combo.

You realize Umbral Form won't work inside an Antimagic Field, right?
