Would an Ancient Green Dragon consider adopting an orphaned copper wyrmling?

Legend
I'd steal the ending of Dragons of Autumn Twilight (the first novel of Dragonlance). There's an ancient red who's partially blind and quite senile, who thinks the slave children are her own children (which are long dead from battle). When they are threatened, she responds with rage and fire.

Hero
Greens are sly and cunning. I could see it happening under the right circumstances - the green playing the long con. Maybe the wyrmling hatched from an old foe of the green and the green has vowed to destroy its line.

Even though the chromatics and metallics are ancient foes does not mean that the first instinct is to attack and kill. Deceive and subvert sounds exactly like what a green would do.

Legend
There is nothing in the Green Dragon details to suggest it has to instantly eat the young dragon,

If it had the edge and there is an opportunity to manipulate the creature to its own ends (probably ending with the consumption of the younger dragon) then great. That is perfectly in character. If the green feels in control and isn’t threatened by the copper then there are all sorts of opportunities for trickery.

The idea of the copper’s mischieviousness being perverted to evil is an excellent. If nothing else the green can use the copper as a distraction for hunters. Go with your gut feeling... this plot definitely has legs.
