I went and checked: PC Dwarves could be Fighters, Thieves and Assassins. NPC Dwarves were limited to 8th level. All races except Half-Orcs were unlimited as Thieves, who were instead unlimited as Assassins.

You might want to check that: dwarves could be Clerics, too. (In addition, when the classes were added, they could be alchemists and psionicists as well.) Also, every race had at least one class in which their progression was unlimited. As I recall, that was Thief for dwarves. (Possibly all races.)

Yep. Seen it many times, but it never seemed to stick. Just like “man” became a synonym for humanity, the male-rooted “Android” became the term for human-stimulant artificial life. Nobody seemed to care for a female-rooted version of the term.

When I was a teen, I went back to Europe. The last half of the trip was behind the Iron Curtain- it was still a thing, then- and I ran out of my antiperspirant halfway through the trip. “No biggie.” I thought. I would just go buy some at the hotel store. Problem #1: there were no American brands at all, nor any European brands I knew. All were Eastern European. No roll-ons, either. So I...

We also smell different from Europeans, IME. Americans- of both genders- tend to favor detergents, soaps and perfumes with floral or powdery smells...and sometimes, in unfortunately large amounts. In that context, we almost smell like babies. After living in Europe for just a few months, I was often able to tell when another American had wandered nearby. After a few years, I could...

I’ve played in and run kitchen sink games. I’ve played in and run games with very strict species limitations- at least one that was human only. IME: 1) sometimes race matters a great deal, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s very campaign AND player dependent. 2) one thing that always seems to matter is the availability of playing humans. Unless there’s a major setting-specific reason why you...

While he does have his devices all set to auto-join and routinely signed into the 3 wi-fi networks I mentioned, he was having problems with signal stability on ours. He has wi-fi at his mother’s house. And he’s still gobbling up 2-4x the GB of the other 4 people on the plan. This month, we’ve used a combined 3 of 16GB; he’s at 12 with another couple of days to go.

Continual flame/Light would be highly prized: a light source that can’t start a fire is going to be handy when you’re on the water, surrounded by all kinds of flammables. Warding spells against fire would be worth their weight in gold, for that matter. OTOH, Grease could be handy if you WANT to start fires...on someone else’s ship. No joke, but that’s kind of how my longest running core gaming group ran one campaign world. The most powerful PCs weren’t all spellcasters- not single-classed, anyway- and we’d run parties of different power levels through adventures. Most of the lower-tier PCs were related to the heavy hitters in some capacity. And we did rotary DMing, too.

Every gaming convention I’ve been to- GenCon isn’t one- has been overwhelmingly white and male, demographically. And that’s largely reflected in the game groups I’ve been a member of. Most times, I’m the only minority at the table, save one which was 1/3 each white, asian, and black. (And...

Many of my favorite systems- HERO, 3.X, etc,- are great for simulating a wide variety of settings with little or no tweaking. It has to do with being a representative sample and the bias that self-selection introduces to the data collection process. Depends on the game, campaign, character and group. Sometimes I don’t bother thinking about it because it won’t matter to anyone. Other times I really get into it, and all of the magic a PC has goes through a certain lens. Whatever doesn’t fit, doesn’t get used, regardless of whether it’s “optimal” or not.

Well, a straight translation of garden gnome would be Gnomus hortus.

If they can live in any kind of water, yes. But if they’re exclusive to flowing fresh water, then “fluvius” for the species name. If they can be found in lakes and ponds, then “lacus” or “lacuna” would also work. Gnomus praefoveo or fumus.

So we had to retire our characters because, of course, the erinyes' player forced us into an unfavorable battle, which ended poorly. So now we're starting fresh from level 1, still have access to LA 4s but nothing with RHD so no pixie :/ I'm thinking about doing a VDK and need to find a suitable template that can be added to dragon and still want to make a druid so I guess now I'm just looking for a good template to add to it, since he would be a dragon type, any good suggestions? Sadly we can't use dragon magazine so I'll have to peruse around and see what I can figure out. You can't really go wrong with human, but if you can get a +4 point buy off, I'd say do a Saint anthropomorphic Eagle (Plus so many things that are good for you, even fly a bit, I think) and that should satisfy your DM since it's 'only' a +3. If you're looking for maximum power, go Druid 5/Planar 10/Druid 2/ Commoner 3 Choose Plane of Dreams as your chosen plane. At level 8 (Druid 5/PS 3), you're able to turn into any mon...

So my next question is where will I find some races that I can apply this template to? I like the aspect of it and I think a serpent style druid would be a really creative and unique character among the current party!Check out yuan-ti pureblood. No level adjust, and might qualify if you ask your DM. Purebloods look the most human, but are the lowest caste. They would strive to be more snake-like, and this could make for interesting roleplay. How to make a capable druid? Pick Druid from the PHB, gain a few levels, and watch the world cower in awe at your incredible, game-wrecking power. This man speaks with words of great truthiness.

Does anybody know of any good sources where I can find suitable templates of an la +4 and lower?IMHO the best you can find are right in the Monster Manual I, and one of the dragon magazines that presented a bunch of +4 LA half-racial templates. Take a look at the half-* templates and see what stirs your imagination. Maybe what you should do is step back from the mechanics, and come up with a metagame character concept that really draws you in. For instance, once I made a half-fiend paladin. His story is that he was the last descendant of a paladin bastion in the Nine Hells, guarding the gate to the Prime Material Plane. Overtime, the later generations of the human paladins began to reflect the available local gene pool.. With the fall of the gate, he had to flee into the prime material plane to warn the powers there of the coming danger. But would anyone trust a man with black skin, horns, and fiery red eyes? Another was a half-dryad mystic theurge. She was born in the winter season, and thus h...

Alright I guess that sounds good. Do you have any suggestions for races or templates that I may want to use, as I can use to an LA 4 that won't count against total level (6) and am not really familiar with doing a basic combat/slinger Druid.!Dear lord! LOL well if you can up to a +4 LA for free, I suggest a Half-Celestial template. +4 LA and the stat boosts are through the roof.
