a note on Shilellagh, this cantrip is very handy if you do not have a magic weapon, so if you are a melee orientated cleric, this beats using a spell slot (Magic Weapon spell) to mitigate resistance to normal weapons. now, regarding the 'classic/original' cleric versus it's 5E iteration, they didnt have an action economy other than 'move, attack, orcast a spell' so swinging a weapon and using...

Yes, we did just this after purchasing the Red Box in around 78, and before buying any hardcovers (AD&D), by 79 we'd scrapped most of it and were playing ad hoc. We also created a martial art rpg by 83, which I wish I still had the write up for. in short, where there's a whip...there's a way...

I personally like this kind of item, harkening back to the old days, ye old +1,+3 vs lycanthropes and etc ;) This is also a viable candidate, the problem is that in 5E a +3 is also a very rare weapon I was trying to quantify a rare version of a dragon slayer oathbow

Basically, you are talking about an Oathbow, with the wielder's sworn enemy being a dragon. An Oathbow is very rare and has a lot more to offer than the rare Dragon Slayer sword. I'd compromise between the two, tweak down an Oathbow to become a Bow of Dragon Slaying ( or even of Chromatic Dragon Slaying??) Side by side comparison: Dragon Slayer, +1 magic weapon ( sword), which deals an...

fair catch, I suppose even the Eldritch Knight, or perhaps Arcane trickster could take it as an off school spell... not that they'd have a lick of a chance with a high DC unless they have some very nice chargen

A Beginning Pathfinder Adventure designed for 6 characters of Levels 1-3 A keep on the frontier of civilization is beset on all sides by roving bands of chaos. • 09:14 PM - airwalkrr mentioned Radaceus in post (Recruiting) Greyhawk Old-School Sandbox-Style Campaign reading, but at the moment I can't get onto Invisible castle; "503 - Service Not Available". Just thought I'd let you know early. As invisiblecastle is still down, you may feel free to use the embedded dice roller on EN World for your stats if you desire. I also took a look at your character concept, and I am not sold on the idea. If you are wanting to go the route of a paladin with the Oath of Devotion, that is a poor fit for a follower of Trithereon, especially one who engages in vigilantism. Trithereonites have little use for things like honor and honesty, two important tenets of the Oath of Devotion. A Trithereonite paladin would almost certainly swear an Oath of Vengeance, as retribution against evil is Trithereon's primary portfolio. If you merely alter the intended Sacred Oath to the Oath of Vengeance, then the background seems to fit the concept perfectly. Oath of the Ancients could also work as well. The Oath of Devotion simply does not fit the character as described. Radaceus, the more the merrier for the moment. I have looked over the proposed character concept and have a few comments. You note the character's origins are in the Barrens. Did you intent this to be the area known as the Rovers of the Barrens which is far to the north? If so, the area has been in a rather constant state of war with the lands of Iuz and the Horned Society for the last 60 years or so. Both Iuz and the Horned Society employ humanoid mercenaries such as orcs which could fit into the narrative. However, if I might suggest a closer location to the Domain of Greyhawk, the Pomarj was occupied by non-humans following the Hateful Wars between the Ulek States and the humanoid tribes of the area which lasted for about 10 years starting about 85 years ago. Ever since then, the Ulek States, the Wild Coast, and the Domain of Greyhawk have clashed with the humanoid tribes who have now occupied the Pomarj. The humanoids of the Pomarj are mostly orcs and goblins, and they have attacked settlem...

Tip: Quote, save and then open for edit, othewrise the tableshows up as BBcode Holy crap that worked awesome, I tried to copy paste with out the quoting part before and it turned out horrible, but this is amazing, Thankyou!! also updated original post haha, just got to put in equipment

House Phairlan? I dont see it represented in Yrlag, curious because i was looking heavily at the Shadow Hunter prestige class affiliated with that house. EDIT: I've started on Dairken's Background, as a Scion of House Phiarlan, do I require to take a feat to gain the Least dragon Mark of Shadow or is it bestowed as a member of that House? (EBerron -Dragonmarked pg 12&16) Until the Hidden was discovered, Yrlag was a trade town with a low population. Few of the houses were represented. Now as events are quickly unfolding, more houses will be looking to set up shop to do business.

Snorri Ironaxe has left his fathers holding, in search of approval... Radaceus, First, let me say that that is a pretty cool background. Now for mechanical bits. If you think I've made an error in any of the things I bring up, please, speak up and we'll figure out where the disconnect is. -Corrected CMD from 4 to 14. -Corrected Crossbow attack from +3 to +2 -Steel Soul is a feat and not an Alternate Racial Trait. You'll need to keep the Hardy Racial Trait or find a different replacement. -Craftsman is a nicely thematic Racial Trait but crafting is not a factor in LPF. You can still have your character be a craftsman but we don't use mechanical crafting. Items must be purchased but can be fluffed as created by the character. Because of this mechanical bonuses to craft aren't useful and Profession is pretty marginal as well. You may wish to keep Greed or find a different replacement. Keeping Craftsman is fine also, I just wanted you to understand we don't do crafting in the same way in LPF. -Snorri lacks the two Traits that PCs are allowed. -Co...

@airwalkrr One last minute question...are we able to use the variant rule for starting wealth instead of the items given from our background? I'd like to tweak Horse a little and most of that stuff doesnt fit with what I have in mind EDIT: Scratch the above, all sorted (if I am allowed to sell my starting gear) also paid, not that it changes our standing among Fortunes Fools in regards to things, just dont want to become a criminal :) another item: noobie question- Do you want us to color code our dialogue? or is that immaterial? EDIT: I edited the IC and chose's the new black! It is not necessary to color code your dialogue, although it is certainly helpful. The main reason I color code NPC dialogue is to convey a certain amount of tone (i.e. apparent attitude) that might otherwise be lost in written word as opposed to spoken. Green is Friendly, Gold is Indifferent. Red is Hostile. At the very least, please be certain to denote INTERNAL dialogue with italics ...

  • 06:50 AM - Serpine quoted Radaceus in post Light, Dark, Underdark - November's Unearthed Arcana
The justification of the multplie/Bonus/extra attack in the mechanics was explained once somewhere (1E/Dragon) as 'you swing X amount of times in 6 seconds and of those you have Y chances to land a damaging blow'. After later editions reduced rounds from the original one minute length (spellcasters were slooooow back then) the notion of flailing uselessly in combat for much of that became less prevalent. :) Personally I don't really have to much concern about the current list of per round actions. The bonus action is usually what your off-hand is doing (something you could expect to do simultaneous to your main attack) and reaction what you are doing during the defense part of the normal attack / defend flow. This seems fine for 6 seconds. The separate interaction action is a little dodgy as a lot of them feel like they would be more appropriate as bonus actions (pulling something specific out of a backpack or tapping the ground with a pole is not something I'd expect to do freely while ...

And as such, possibly just me and my group if old timers ate sticks in the myd and prefer our RP be somewhat realistic in timespans. Oh man, this is a separate debate, but come on. 31-count kata can be done in 15 seconds even with a partner, and most western martial arts recreations I've seen also run at about two strikes per second once an exchange gets going, with exchanges of 3-4 strikes not that uncommon. And that's what you pick up in a year of training, which in D&D is basically 1st or maybe 2nd-level Fighter. D&D has never, ever been even remotely realistic about time spans of combat.

  • 10:50 AM - Li Shenron quoted Radaceus in post Light, Dark, Underdark - November's Unearthed Arcana
I'm still pretty OK with Tunnel Fighter, but to me the weird corner case isn't with Sentinel, it's with Polearm Master. TF+PM means if a single foe tries to get past you, you get up to three attacks: free OA for entering reach, TF reaction for moving more than 5 feet within reach, and another free OA for leaving reach. That's... a lot, potentially even at level 1 with variant human. I guess that PM was designed assuming that an OA always costs a reaction, and that each creature has max 1 reaction. So you get the OA either when the target enters your reach or leaves your reach, not twice. Maybe we need a rule saying that you can only do one OA per target each turn. But now it's too late to add a general rule like that, it would have to be included in the final version of TF so I wouldn't be really general, and it would make TF even more complex. Also, I don't think the "extra attack" is needed at all, it would be better to remove it from TF. It's already good enough by granting "free"...

How can you make an opportunity attack without using a reaction? (RAW) The same way that you can take a Dash Action without spending an action, have a specific feature (Cunning Action) that creates an exception to the rule. The rule does not break RAW, it creates an exception just like many other features.

BTW to the above poster(s): AoO's are reactions not bonus actions You are not allowed more than one reaction, nor bonus action per turn. the problem is, if we are reading this correctly, Tunnel Fighter sets up a precedent for multiple reactions per turn...breaking the RAW/RAI and opening the door for absurdity. The bonus action is for the stance and this has to be spent each round if you want to have this ability active. The way that it is written, it does not allow a character to take multiple reactions. It allows the character to take OAs without using a reaction. There is a difference.

...ter. Either one would carry similar role-playing implications. For tips on how your character might have gotten along in the world, see the Grudging Acceptance sidebar on pg 41 of the PH. HiAirwalker. Just so you are aware when you come back, I believe my character is completely ready now. I will keep a close eye on this and the IC thread and am happy for John to approach the party at the town gate just before they leave to volunteer his services with the giant mission for free. This would help to represent his current "all or nothing" reckless gambling attitude.I have a suggestion that might work. Horse and John might have met up at the Green Dragon Inn the night previous and decided to go after Grob independently or with each other. Having heard about another party heading to Steaming Springs for the same purpose and receiving general descriptions, they have struck out for Druid's Gate hoping to meet the other party before they leave. Send me a PM as I requested above from Radaceus. I am headed over to the IC to update it now. My wife got home yesterday, and I have some spare time for the moment.

rolling stats for Horse: [roll0][roll1][roll2][roll3][roll4][roll5] [roll0] [roll1] [roll2] [roll3] [roll4] [roll5] It seems to roll normally when you roll 4d6 with each roll visible than 4d6 drop lowest manually. Airwalkrr, if you're happy with this, please see the link below and my posts from 141 onwards for my 'correct' rolls with your approval. Yes, I was about to step in and say both of those earlier rolls would be considered unplayable. Not something I normally do, but they were pretty bad. You may each take your second rolls.
