    Yes, we did just this after purchasing the Red Box in around 78, and before buying any hardcovers (AD&D), by 79 we'd scrapped most of it and were playing ad hoc. We also created a martial art rpg by 83, which I wish I still had the write up for. in short, where there's a whip...there's a way...

    I personally like this kind of item, harkening back to the old days, ye old +1,+3 vs lycanthropes and etc ;) This is also a viable candidate, the problem is that in 5E a +3 is also a very rare weapon I was trying to quantify a rare version of a dragon slayer oathbow

    Basically, you are talking about an Oathbow, with the wielder's sworn enemy being a dragon. An Oathbow is very rare and has a lot more to offer than the rare Dragon Slayer sword. I'd compromise between the two, tweak down an Oathbow to become a Bow of Dragon Slaying ( or even of Chromatic Dragon Slaying??) I also took a look at your character concept, and I am not sold on the idea. If you are wanting to go the route of a paladin with the Oath of Devotion, that is a poor fit for a follower of Trithereon, especially one who engages in vigilantism. Trithereonites have little use for things like honor and honesty, two important tenets of the Oath of Devotion. A Trithereonite paladin would almost certainly swear an Oath of Vengeance, as retribution against evil is Trithereon's primary portfolio. If you merely alter the intended Sacred Oath to the Oath of Vengeance, then the background seems to fit the concept perfectly. Oath of the Ancients could also work as well. The Oath of Devotion simply does not fit the character as described. Radaceus, the more the merrier for the moment. I have looked over the proposed character concept and have a few comments. You note the character's origins are in the Barrens. Did you intent this to be the area known as the Rovers of the Barrens which is far to the north? If so, the area has been in a rather constant state of war with the lands of Iuz and the Horned Society for the last 60 years or so. Both Iuz and the Horned Society employ humanoid mercenaries such as orcs which could fit into the narrative. However, if I might suggest a closer location to the Domain of Greyhawk, the Pomarj was occupied by non-humans following the Hateful Wars between the Ulek States and the humanoid tribes of the area which lasted for about 10 years starting about 85 years ago. Ever since then, the Ulek States, the Wild Coast, and the Domain of Greyhawk have clashed with the humanoid tribes who have now occupied the Pomarj. The humanoids of the Pomarj are mostly orcs and goblins, and they have attacked settlem...

Personally I would go Polynesia and lost world New Zealand perhaps replacing humans all together. If humans exist they could be limited to the coasts if say Kea are Lord's of the Alpine area and Kakapo and Kiwi are the elf replacements for the forests.

    Regardless, a cantrip failed save means no effect or damage. And? Did I refute this when it was brought up? Whether a save means half or no damage doesn't mean much. It's just one way the game can regulate the actual DPR, which is the interesting thing. That cantrips do nothing if the monster saves, encourages the caster to cast it on the henchmen rather than the BBEG. But that's nothing new, since BBEGs do not go down to cantrips anyway. At high levels cantrips is what you use for "filler fights", the fights where you realize you will win anyway and you want to conserve real power for later. (Unless you're a Blaster Warlock of course) And 22(4d10) damage at 17th level is no different than someone firing a bow, or swinging a sword at the same level, and stacked next to a melee class that spell attack cantrip takes one action of the spellcasters action economy, whereas, a weapon attack benefits from extra attack.     This is pretty much incorrect, only 6 cantrips require an attack roll (Chill Touch, Eldritch Blast, Firebolt, Produce Flame, Shocking Grasp, Thorn Whip). My apologies. When I read your other post I thought you were implying Cantrips were save-based, and neglecting to include all the attack-based ones. But, You forgot Ray of Frost. :) At any rate, whether requiring an attack roll or a save, cantrips can deal zero damage if either the attack misses or the save is made. I think that is the key point we both understand.

    just realized that one cannot stride x2, i was just DMing 5e and got the dash thing mixed up ;). it appears that one cannot move more than their speed, so you can stride x + step (requiring 10' of your movement to carefully move 5') fro 2 actions, as long as X+(step=10) =< your speed Whaaaa? I did *not* know that. Where does it say that? Also: There's a new update with new dying rules, everyone. It's up to JM if we are going to adopt all the updates right away, though. Are we?

He goes over quickly what he is attempting and then sets back to work. Jericho is quite proud of his Elixir of Life formula, even though he was crafting the alchemist fire bombs at the time, and was more then happy to drone on about the compounds and chemicals that he had used to create one for the very first time... I'm not sure how cooperation works as with Advanced Alchemy, Jericho does not need to make a skill check when I spend the Resonance Point. If we had more time then we could spend a couple of days and make some up with a skill check, but even my lowest one takes 1 day per silver piece I think and all mine cost 2-3 silver pieces.

    IMO, I didn't see it to much of an issue, rather a different take on the class (low spell repertoire balanced by being 'studious' i.e., well trained) Traditionally the sorcerer is not considered book smart. And hopefully they will address the spell repertoire by upping their spells per day.

Because, presumably "everyone, but the monk, is trained in Unarmed Defense" And you use Unarmed Defense in place of Armor Proficiency in the AC calculation. remove {combat section - no need for a heading} Add "L 8" to Equipment (Total Bulk=3 L 8, Bulk max 5), especially since you are close to your tenth L. And then add it to the RG.

    Neither Teleport Without Error (3E), nor its sequel Greater Teleport(3.5) allowed interplaner travel. I dont know about 4E, but i've just looked it up in my PHBs because that one was news to me ;) As far as I know, Until the 5E version, Spell jamming was the only way as stated, Plane shift allowed for travel between planes, but not between worlds. Looking at the 3.5e spells, teleport was limited in distance, greater teleport would enable you to teleport between worlds since it had no range limit you could teleport between Krynn and Toril (for instance) as they are on the same plane of existence so no interplaner travel is happening. You just couldn't use greater teleport to travel to any of the other planes like the plane of fire or the abyss. That ability seems to have been removed in the jump from 2e to 3e.

A close inspection reveals a faint inscription at eye level which reads "All that is Left." We go right and stand in the midst of everything imaginable, imagining that the door to the left is open and leads to a chamber full of unimaginable delights, which are missing from the right room because they are unimaginable. You're going to tell me that the unimaginable delights are guarded by unimaginable horrors, aren't you? I hate this game. :D

    Don't forget Curse of Strahd, which has Baba Lysaga, or as my players quickly called her... Baba Lasagna! I think my party in Ravenloft encountered her as well. If we thought of that nickname we'd have had an easier time remembering her proper monicker. :p Wont. I don't think that word means what you think it means. Oof! Typo fixed. Some of your stat blocks for legendary persona have been a little off in my opinion. But this one really is spot on. My wife is Russian, and loves mythology and I have spoken to her many times on the really Russian Baba Yaga, and this captures it well. One thing though - I would say she is Lawful Evil, as whilst she is capricious in the original tales in terms of who she helps (being respectful to her really helps here...) once she decides to help she doesn't break her word, even when it's to her disadvantage.
