Ramen Sandwich Press is pleased to announce that we’ve launched a Kickstarter to support a line of location/adventure modules for Pathfinder OGL! We’re testing the market for a new Pathfinder-oriented product line called Found by the Way. As with our successful Places by the Way series of modules for D&D 5E, you should think of them as glittering mosaic tiles that you can drop into a campaign to provide your player characters with diverting side quests and memorable interludes while they follow the overall story arc.

Found by the Way is written by RPG veteran Douglas Sun. He is also writing Places by the Way, and his past work includes contributions to Decipher’s Star Trek and Lord of the Rings RPGs, AEG’s Legend of the Five Rings RPG, and a substantial body of D&D 3.0/3.5 OGL books (including part of Fields of Blood, the precursor to recent Kickstarter sensation Strongholds & Followers).

The campaign rewards focus on “Limited,” Kickstarter-only versions of the first four modules in the series. Each of them contains an Easter Egg of content — an extra location, or an addition to an existing location — that will not appear in the versions that will go on sale to the general public after the campaign is over. You can claim a PDF copy of one or more modules and a print copy of a compendium of all four modules signed to you by the author. If the campaign meets its funding goal, we’ll continue the series with Found by the Way #5 (no specifics yet, but dwarves will be involved) in late spring/early summer.

Day 5 of our campaign to drum up support for Found by the Way, a series of modules optimized for Pathfinder, is almost up. Thank you to everyone who has backed our campaign so far! We've made good progress toward hitting our target, but we need to keep it going! Ramen Sandwich Press needs to be confident that there's enough enthusiasm in the Pathfinder community to support Found by the Way long-term, and this campaign is our main data point. Back us, and you'll get as many as four Pathfinder-compatible location modules while showing your love for Pathfinder!

Timing is everything, it seems like. But we're not going to complain about our luck — launching a Kickstarter to support four Pathfinder OGL modules, rewards deliverable in June, less than a week before Paizo announces a new edition of the rules, deliverable in August. So what are we going to do about it?

Short answer: If the Pathfinder community gives us a critical mass of support for Found by the Way, we'll commit to sticking with Pathfinder over the long term, no matter how many editions they go through. Stand by us, and we'll stand by you!

What's not so simple is what we're going to do about the rewards for the current Kickstarter campaign. Do we go ahead with the existing plan, send our backers a version of the modules that will only be "current" for a few more months, then follow up with notes for converting them to 2nd Edition? Or do we keep our backers waiting until fall so we can deliver them a product that's fully integrated with the new edition hot off the press?
You're a Kickstarter fan, and you're interested in Found by the Way. What do you think? How should we handle this?

Paizo kind of threw us a curveball the other day when it announced the new version of Pathfinder, less than a week after we launched a Kickstarter for a Pathfinder module series. But it is spring training, after all, and if you're going to make it in The Big Leagues you have to learn to hit the curve.

We've decided to stick with our plan to publish Found by the Way, optimized for what everyone is now calling Pathfinder 1E, until the new edition is published and Paizo releases the SRD. In addition, once the playtest rules are released this summer, we'll whip some conversion notes for every Found by the Way module published to date, distribute them for free, and include conversion notes for each new module that we publish from that point until the publication of Pathfinder 2E. If necessary, we'll distribute another set of conversion notes after 2E is published, to account for material differences from the playtest version.

In short, if the Pathfinder community backs Found by the Way, we're happy to commit to making our products as useful to as many Pathfinder players as possible. Our campaign is more than halfway funded with three weeks left — not a bad position, but we'd love to have more backers!

Even as the latest about Pathfinder 2E floods the news section of EN World, we'd like to remind everyone that if our Kickstarter to launch Found by the Way succeeds, Ramen Sandwich Press has committed to sticking with Pathfinder even as 1E runs its course, and into 2E. We're eager to enter the Pathfinder market — but we need the Pathfinder community to show us that there's enough interest in Found by the Way to make it worthwhile. With two weeks left, we still need backers to put the campaign over the top — not that many, but we need them!

Less than 10 days left in our Kickstarter to launch Found by the Way, and we're almost there! At the moment, we need less than $300 to meet our funding goal, thanks in large part to a flurry of new pledges that came in this week. We're down to two Early Bird Specials: Pledge $60 (plus $5 for shipping) for a print copy of the compendium of Found by the Way #1-4 autographed by me, the author, and we'll include PDFs of all four modules!

Our campaign is almost funded; we're in good position to top our goal before the campaign ends next weekend. Don't miss out on the chance to get a copy of the Kickstarter-only Limited Edition of Places by the Way #1-4!
