My normal suggestion # of PCs +1 for party kitty. Cash is divided by that result. Magic items are too who can use it best. If a tie for magic item roll off, role play, or other.

Could be interesting to combine the first two. Maybe invent a simple in-game version of "let's dice for it" that the PCs play rather than the players.

The cash gets divided evenly.

Any specific magic items goes to whoever most needs or wants it, in a very polite discussion.

Do you ever sell off unneeded magic items, or do the bags of holding grow full with the "we might need it latter" stuff?

Its up to the players. Usually some stuff is sold off if opportunity arises. But it depends.

A little bit of both, although I think we're more likely to sell off the stuff after it hasn't seen any use for a couple levelsn and we figure later will never come.

I have never had a problem with dividing loot. In every gaming group I have been in, players have agreed that whoever benefits the most from an item gets it. And if there was an honest tie, some kind of bargaining happened.
