As always, you rock Echohawk! (rhyme intended) :D

I was just using the index the other day, and was wondering when the updated version would come out.

Echohawk, does the list include the 3.X monsters (and the odd d20 Modern monster or two) from the Knights of the Dinner Table magazine? The magazine isn't published under the D&D banner, but the individual articles are, IIRC. Further, they have no OGL in them, so they seem to be legitimately second-party.

EDIT: For that matter, does it take any of the D&D comic books into account? I've seen at least one where a monster was printed in the back.

Yes, or rather: as far as possible. The index does include the D&D creatures from KotDT #72, #79, #80, #83, #89 and #90, and the Rattelyr from the back of the DC Forgotten Realms comic #24.

There was (apparently) at least one Dragonlance DC comic with monster stats in, which I haven't managed to find, so that one isn't included (yet!). And if there are D&D critters in any other issues of KotDT, those aren't included either, because I don't know about them :).

Also, no d20 Modern creatures from any sources are included in the index, since it is a D&D index, rather than a d20 creature index.

Please don't anyone suggest that the index should include all d20 creatures... :uhoh:

Okay, I'm not completely up-to-date on my issues of KoDT, but here are the monsters I've found in more recent issues, along with one other monster from a D&D comic:

KoDT #106 – “Complete Arcane in the Kingdoms of Kalamar.” This article describes how to set the material from Complete Arcane in the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting, going over relevant material from each chapter of the book. The only information about monsters from the book is three sentences about elemental monoliths, the most crunchy part of which is just mentioning that they'd require an Epic spell to summon to Tellene.

KoDT #106 – “Rustlers of the Night.” This article describes a new monster, the Tohdnerian Summoner Beast, with full stats, and notes on training them (as well as using them as animal companions).

KoDT #110 – “Rustlers of the Night.” This article presents a new monster: the sunderer.

KoDT #111 – “Porting Hackmaster’s Pixie Faeries into D&D 3.5.” This article gives full PHB-style fluff information and PC racial information for pixie faeries.

KoDT #121 – “Rustlers of the Night.” This article presents the throngling, a new monster.

KoDT #125 – “Player’s Advantage: Why Walk?” This article discusses using mounts, along with giving several stat blocks for advanced horses.

KoDT #127 – “Rustlers of the Night.” This article presents the Eldorian Siege Giant.

KoDT #128 – “Kingdoms of Kalamar and Monster Manual III.” This article provides “On Tellene” information for monsters with campaign information from the MMIII, along with a few pieces of new gear. There's no actual crunch about the monsters here, though.

KoDT #129 – “Rustlers of the Night.” This article presents a new monster; the Bearbug.

D&D Tempest's Gate #1 - Inside the back cover is a full-page write-up on a new orc subrace, the ogh. This was published by Kenzer Co. also, and there's no OGL, so it seems to be second-party.

I'm pretty sure one or two of the computer software download providers allow people to host non-software projects on their systems. Maybe it would be worth hunting one down. I forget which one I saw that did this, but it was one of the places like MajorGeeks.

Have you tried asking the Dragonlance fans? Do you have a rough idea of what this was?

Would we? :)

Can we ask for other things...like an online searchable version that can be used when you are away from your own PC and can't use MS Excel?

Or how about one that makes and says: "Rawr! I'm a monster!" every time we look up a gnome? ;)

Thanks very much Alzrius, I'll get hold of these issues and add those creatures to the next index update.

The ogh are already included in the index. I'd actually forgotten about them, but they were a regrettably forgettable orc-variant. Sadly, Kenzer couldn't even keep their names consistent throughout Tempest's Gate, sometimes they are referred to as orcs, sometimes orgs and sometimes oghs :(

Thanks for the suggestion, but it is currently hosted on a server I use for other stuff, so it won't be a problem to keep it there ;)

No clue. I think I did ask that question on the Dragonlance Nexus many years ago, without any luck. I'm not even entirely sure that there is a creature in the Dragonlance comics, since I have only a vaguely remembered second-hand mention to work from. I will eventually get around to filling in a few gaps in my Dragonlance collection (including the missing comics) and I'll check then.

I caaaaan't heeeeeear you. La-la-la-la-la... :) :)
