We are small but we are many
We are many, we are small
We were here before you rose
We will be here when you fall.

You are many but are small,
Numerous but weak in all.
We are watching from above,
Keep on dreaming, puny droves.

I have to say, I liked the clip. The end part especially. Good humour.

That's what I mean by "backfired". If it was meant to big-up 4E, and make tieflings look like cool PCs and gnomes not, then it seems to have had the opposite effect.

No - I'm pretty sure it was made to be exactly what it was - poking fun at both types of players - the gnome/tiefling lovers & haters. I mean neither character comes across as especially likeable. The gnome is goofy and annoying the tiefling is a total b***h.

Funny as hell though (and I had never seen it before!).

Yet, people are still real people.

Indeed. Give them free money, and they'll complain how you're undermining their self-esteem and ability to produce for their family. Or complain about how the bills are folded. Or complain that it's American dollars instead of Euros. Or whatever.

Or make a joke, and they act like you just killed a family member. Roleplaying games are serious business.

There are many degree's of anger between "I'm fine with it" and "you just killed my family member". Interjecting your "free" stuff and idle complaints doesn't really apply either.

It's simple, I've bought a LOT of D&D products through the decades, they made a choice I didn't like, and after protests were voiced, they (IMO) mocked my opinion. (First with the April gnome mini, then with the little movie.)

I mean, if you've ever been in high school and laughed when someone was being picked on, doesn't mean it wasn't funny to everyone but that person. The fact ENWorld has also adopted the "gnomes are a laughing stock" stance doesn't really help matters.

Please do not equate the opinion of some vocal people to the opinion of the site as a whole. EN World, either as an institution or as a collective body of people, has not really given a clear statement on gnomes - or much of anything else, for that matter.
