Adventure Paths: Which Ones Are You Enjoying?

EricNoah - Many thanks for these handouts. I have just stolen them and saved them into my Rise of the Runelords folder. You, sir, are a gentleman!

I'm running the Rise of the Rune Lords -- starting with the Skinsaw Murders in Hero System. Man, is it a riot. One player gets "picked on" a little in this module and man is she creeped out. Fear Factor rates right up there with my original run of Ravenloft.

I'm running Shackled City and having a blast. Plan on running more.
Have had the most fun reading Curse of the Crimson Throne. Can't wait to get a chance to run it.

Some Adventure Paths you've forgotten include The Freeport Trilogy (which leads easily into Crises in Freeport), and Privateer Press' Witchfire Trilogy. I'm sure there are more.

I wouldn't include the boxed sets of modules released by Goodman Games, as the included adventures are not connected in any meaningful way.

I've run the Freeport Trilogy, thought it was well worth the praise it receives, and one of the best APs I've read.

I played in Age of Worms, but the campaign crashed and burned due to a problematic player. It seemed cool, and I liked how it started. I got an owlbear cub and named him Fred!

I've read about half of Rise of the Runelords, and like what I've read, but haven't invested more into it because I'm running Castle Whiterock for the time-being.

I look forward to either running or playing in the other paizo APs, and I'm in the process of writing some DCC-style adventures that form a path themselves (but are also completely modular site-based adventures) for Pathfinder.

There have been several "Three-linked-Adventures" in dungeon. Like the Viktor Saint Demaine one (my favorite).

Also, wasn't there recently a set of FR modules which were linked together? Dealing with Yaun-ti?

Paizo/Dungeon:

Age of Worms

Paizo/Pathfinder

Curse of the Crimson Throne

Played thru the Age of Worms. While the story was interesting it was a poorly designed AP IMO. Campaign far too hard and some of the adventures where boring dungeon crawls after boring dungeon crawl.

Currently we're playing in the Curse of the Crimson Throne converted to 4e. Overall it's a decent story. The use of the term "red" gets a little overused, and the red Mantis assassins are dumb looking. Can't comment on the 3e mechanics tho as we're using 4e for the AP.

I started Rise of the Runelords (only finished the first adventure,) but my players seemed to have little to no interest in the setting. As I read other volumes I realized that I personally didn't like decent chunks of the path, nor would most of my players. I had to cancel as I couldnt justify the price vs the amount of usable material for my game. And then 4th ed came along...

I now feel that a long adventure path is simply something my group will not enjoy (I personally would love to play in one!) I still want to try a smaller path like those that used to be in Dungeon (3 parts or so>)

Any conversion notes? I own all of Savage Tide, and my group would no doubt appreciate getting to run through it, having run through Shackled City already, but I'd rather not DM a whole 3E campaign again (high level is ... complicated.)

I'd go ask on the Paizo boards but they have become ... unfriendly ... of late. Sigh. :erm:

You know, I should ask my fellow DMs that are converting adventure path on their implementations. I can't promise that I'll achieve something that I could link to or post here, but who knows? I'll ask on our groups message board*.

*Discussions in German, and practically used only internal... and we need to seriously upgrade the board, but our webmasters doesn't have the time... Busy making 4E conversions ;)

Thanks! If you guys manage to get something together, be sure to let me know! :)
