4E is unacceptable

The thing that really stupefies me about 4E is how many people bought the books without surveying them or researching them first.

I don't like 4E. So I didn't buy the books.

RPGA - I don't see how the present RPGA is any different from the RPGA of the past few years.

To be fair, the RPGA is actually explicitly mentioned (in a sidebar) at least once in the 4E PHB. It wasn't ever mentioned in any rulebooks in previous editions to my knowledge. Funny thing to have bother you, but different regardless.

My 1st edition AD&D DMG has a big ad for the RPGA on the back page, IIRC. :)

I think the Star Wars Saga rulebooks refer to the RPGA during character creation; perhaps the RCR as well.

Cheers!

I don't know if anyone active on EN World did no research 4E. Come on, remember the PHB Lite? Raiders of Oakhurst?

Of course, people can still chose to ignore this information. ;)

I don't care for 4E's mechanics and really don't like everything WotC stands for, but man, most of your criteria for rejection seem like details to me!

Take a chill pill, seriously.

Yes fourth edition has been released. It a whole new ball of wax? yes. Are the mechanics sound? no; at least not yet. Is this worth fussing over? maybe. Is it enought to make me want have more gray hairs on my head? Absolutely not.

I, like many others, am annoyed at the presence of 4E. There is nothing we can do about it, except buy what little of it we need (us homebrewersd) and then support continuing third party support of 3.5 (Pathfinder).

It sure as h-e-double hockey sticks ain't worth having a fit about.

Uh...NO :)

while I can agree that 4th ed does need some polish, and that I'd have like doh, another 100 pages in the PHB and MM...what's perfect? *nothing*.

Deal with it, worse in life than some errata for D&D, ya know! ;)

Why does everyone feel the need to do these public exit things that they don't really mean?
I think this is a great question.

If you don't like one version or another, just play the one you have been playing. You don't have to stop doing something you like just b/c the most recent version isn't your flavor of candy.

Incompleteness of the Books - There's another thread on the matter but as far as I'm concerned, it's complete. It doesn't have all the options 3.5 has, or even AD&D, but it's certainly more content compared to when the original D&D got released.

That isn't really a valid argument. The times have changed and so have the expectations. And when the new product can't deliver enough content to be at least comparable to the last version then this is a failure.

To use the PC market as example, do you think the excuse "Its at least more than Pong" is a valid excuse for a game having much less content than its predecessor?
