True20, I Think I Love You

Which is also the title of my blog post outing my pure gamer-love for Green Ronin's rules.

Just wanted to also post here because I'm just really, really digging these rules. It's a true epiphany, though not necessarily on the road to Damascus. The more I read, the more enthralled I become. In my blog post, I mention that I'll stick with Conan. Actually, no. After further reading and further consideration, I think True20 would work fine. For modern, there are still aspects of Modern20 that I'll yoink and use, but it'll True20 with some M20 window dressing.

Just wow.

Okay, I've gushed enough. There will be a review on the podcast, which, considering we have both Chuck Rice and David Gallant (who have played with these rules already in supplements) should be mighty interesting. I'll let you know when that review is up, just in case anyone cares.

That's all for me.

I'll be in my bunk.

Well you should have known the system rocks, I wrote *4* books for it. Some people are just slow to get on the party train I guess. ;)

My love is now 12 days old: ever since I was in Barsoomcore's DinoPirates of Ninja Island game at GenCon. In a fit of fiscal impropriety I have since bought the revised core rules, Adepts and Expert's Handbooks, and downloaded the Worlds of Adventure, Cybertech, and Bestiary from RPGnow.

How did I not know about this before?!? All of the character granularity of D&D with the promise of M&M like adventure writing ease? Yes please! I run my first game in little over two weeks.

B-)

Just don't forget those awesome 3rd party books out there for True20 like Legends of Excalibur, Blood and Fists, Darwin's World and Wild West *ahem*

You should check out Interface Zero... I like that book's take on Cybernetics better then Cybertech's cybernetic-enhancements as separate feats approach.

Was there a Blood and Fists book that wasn't True20? I'm pretty sure I picked it up along the way in hopes of helping convert my KaraTur game to 3e. That convertsion is actually what I'm using True20 for. I didn't realize it was True20 at the time if that's what it is.

The first one, if I'm not mistaken, was for d20 Modern. That one made quite a splash, regardless. I think the True20 one came next (it would have a green True20 logo on the front, probably), followed by the Modern20 version. . .? Well, something like that.

I'll just second Interface Zero as being worth investigating, while I'm at it. Hell, it's worth buying. Simple as that.

The original couple editions of Blood and Fists were for the d20 Modern roleplaying game (mainly). A while back, Chuck learned of the glorious True20 system and began writing/converting for it. Among other things, he brought over his (much improved, in my opinion) Blood and Fists. It is both simple and elegant, and until two days ago I had not heard a bad word spoken of it.

His True 20 stuff is all quite good. Legends of Excalibur is spot on, and Darwin's World and Wild West are at least as good as True20 as they were under any other system.

The system is most awesome, accommodating Star Wars, Modern action, Fantasy, and DinnoPirate hybrids that have never been seen before with equal ease. I'm a big fan.

I checked after I posted, and I have the d20 Modern version. I'll have to check out the True20 one.

You too, huh? I haven't bought the rules yet, but I found in that game that True20 seemed to solve most of my 3.5 issues - now I need to see whether it can accomodate some of my specific needs...
