Obviously, anyone who doesn't hate 4E...;)

Here we have an object lesson - smilies do absolutely nothing to keep people from thinking that a post is snarky and insulting. I'm sorry, but it is the truth - smilies have been used a as a dodge too often for it to be a valuable cover.

If you can't say it without smilies and not cheese people off, you can't say it without cheesing people off, period.

But at least your rather snide, sarcastic and passive-aggressive post shows exactly what you think of those who have tried to help support this site in a pro-active way.

I think your criticism of Morrus is way over the top. I also think that the Meta forum would be a better venue, or even over PM. I can't see anyone walking away happy from a public flaming of the owner of the site.

/M

I normally limit myself to the general threads and during the transition it was a bit of an unbearable beast to want to post something for 3e onlt to be drowned out by 4e stuff.

Once he switched 4e to its own thread it was a lot better. Now, it seems 3e and 4e share a general forum and just the rules section are seperated and it seems to work for me.

I don't think that Morrus has some hidden agenda or contract with WOTC to push 4e down our throats or anything. However, I can't speak about the store and what they sell.

2. ENWorld's moderation policy was neither pro nor anti 4e. It maintained its usual effort at neutrality and minimum moderator intervention at the usual cost of permitting loads of stupidity and trolling as long as the secret rules weren't violated- no bad words, no insulting other people by name.

Well to be honest, there have been occassions when I wondered about a couple of moderators, who openly support 4e. They seemed to quick to jump in and close threads where other moderators would give warnings. I didn't think much about it until a couple of instance of seeing one moderator give a warning or even take part in a thread only to have another mod within another two or three posts jump in and close the thread when the more recent posts were not even controversial.

I don't think there was anything ENWorld could have done to prevent a serious drop in 3e sales once 4e was announced. Once word of a new version of any product gets around, almost everybody goes into a wait-and-see mode, so a dropoff in sales is to be expected.

So why did other sites, Paizo being one of them, experience a spike in 3e sales?

Was Paizo the only one that saw this affect? They're the only one ever called out as having sales go up after the announcement, while besides here on ENWorld, I've heard the sales dried up line from Necromancer, Goodman, and several other 3PPs posting here.

It seems to me Paizo is a special case here, both because A) they took an anti-4E stance rather early, and likely attracted the business of many anti-4E consumers and B) have a very loyal base of followers/subscribers who buy large quantities of Paizo goods nearly exclusively (and failing that, buy FROM Paizo exclusively).

My impression is that most of the rest of the market suffered a serious decline after the announcement, but please correct me if I am wrong. :)
