Xbox 360 price cut!

But XBOX 360 is backward compatible to old XBOX games, correct?
As was said, the popular Xbox games have been ported to the 350, and indeed many of the most successful are now directly downloadable to the console from the Xbox Live Marketplace, marketed under the title "Xbox Originals".

If you get a 360 now, I highly recommend a Gamefly account. There's a lot of catching up to do. October by itself will nearly bury us under AAA games.

Well, the Elite also features the HMI port and includes the cable.

All new 360s have an HDMI port, and have since late last summer. The Elite always had one, and the Arcade and Pro bundles (which replaced the Core and so-called Premium) early last fall have as well; so did the short-lived Halo 3 Special Edition model, and some 'Premium's from just before the launch of the Pro bundle.

FWIW, I've had an Elite since March.

Whoa, there's a 350???

Perhaps, but I live in a place where I can find old games at yard sales. If I have them, can they play on the XBOX 360 or do I have to buy the download version?

$15? I could find 3 of them for that price at a yard sale.
Then by all means get them from the yard sale. For whatever reason, MS decided not to implement the 360's achievement system with their "Xbox Original" downloads, which would be pretty much the sole reason to buy them off the marketplace IMO.

Once you pop the disc into the 360, you'll be prompted to download software to play it.

So, if I do that, I'll end up having to pay for the download anyway, despite having the physical disc?

Total rip-off.
