Well Dragon and Dungeon aren't the problem, the compiled PDF issues are great. It's their website that is the issue. It sucks and needs to be better organized.

The first thing is that I'm going to subscribe. I wasn't really sure about it at first, and I still have issues with the site.

I'm sold now.

Sadly, I think I probably won't subscribe. Looking at the rates, they seem similar to Xbox Live's rates. So, I can't help but compare what I would get out of the two services. The digital magazines are good, but the apps side is just not there at all...

It's all promises of future delivery at this point. So why should I pay now? If I do subscribe later... Do later subscribers get access to earlier magazine content? I never really saw where this was clarified.

It's your choice to make obviously, but is it really a good comparison?

Xbox live can afford a lower subscription rate due to ammount of subscribers.
My Men's Health subscription has always been less expensive then a subscription to dragon magazine, and the magazine is thicker to boot. More people subscribe to men's Health then Dragon, and the magazine can also charge more for ad space and such.

I'm nearly certain you only get access to Dragon mag material you paid for. How that interacts with material in the compendium and character creater that is found in dragon or dungeon - well, it seems unlikely their apps will be smart enough to handle that exception.

That said, you can always buy the Dragon Annual when it comes out...

Where are the rates detailed?

I am going to subscribe, at least for a year trial. At the moment I do all the PCs character sheets on PDF using an editor, the character creator would (I hope) save me a lot of time and I am really enjoying the e-mags.

As an aside, on poor site design, how do you access your account details? For example to change your email address...I cannot find it anywhere. Normally (i.e. on every other site I have ever logged into!) there is a your account or profile or whatever on top of every page. Not Insider you log in (and I have to do it every time, it never stays logged in) and that is it.
