The Destroyer - any fans here?

First Post
During the past year, I've found numerous used copies of this classic action novel series in many used book stores and such. Rereading through them, I'm struck by how exciting and action packed they are up till today. So any of you fans here?

For those not in the know, refer to this handy wiki link.

Been a fan for a long time. It has had it's high and low points. Right now it seems to be rising after a long time in a very deep low.

The best period, IMO, runs from #3 to #20.

A friend introduced me to the series in the 80's. Within a period of a couple of weeks I read the first 30-40 books.

I'm not a hardcore fan, but I enjoyed what I've read. The Marvel magazine from the eighties wa good stuff.
The Marvel magazine was actually my first intro to the series. It was a radically different comic from what I'd been reading at the time, so I was instantly hooked. Later on I discovered the books it was based on, and of course, the underrated film Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins starring Fred Ward as Remo.

Question, was the fighting art properly called Sinanju in book 3? I read that the first book Created: The Destroyer didn't have the whole Sinanju mythology at first, Remo was just a guy skilled in unarmed and weapon combat. It was only later that Murphy and Saphir established it as the superhuman martial art that we know.

1st intro was the Movie (okay movie....wonder if it'll ever be done again)

then I found a few books but they didn't grab me.

Then the comicbook which was okay

Then bought newer books but never read them. I got into Fleming's, Gardner's and another author's James Bond instead.

I didn't know they were still producing the books. They must be over 100 now...

I discovered the Destroyer books when I first checked out the Minot Air Force Base library, shortly after being assigned there (back in 1987). Since my wife and kids wouldn't be joining me for about a month and a half, the Destroyer novels were my main source of entertainment there for awhile - I must have read my way through the first 30 or so. I've kept up with them on occasion, although I've missed big stretches at a time.

I did pick up the Marvel series, and I saw the movie, but I was never even aware of the TV-movie with Roddy McDowell before today. Dare I ask...is it any good?

It has it's moments, but wasn't particularly good. One scene I did like had Remo running up the stream of water from a firefighter's hose to the building.

Here is a site with some more info, and a few photos and sound bites.

Loved the ealry ones to! ;)

It had so many classy lines:

Terrrorists are talking about plating a bomb in a pram, one guy objects to that as it's horrible.
Remo breaks in: "Ok, who said putting a bomb in a baby carriage was bad!"
"Me!"
"Ok, you get to die quick!"

haha!!! ;)
