So what was the problem?

For a while there, I stopped coming by the forums 'cause they were were so painfully slow - if I could get in at all. Now everything is humming right along wonderfully. I realize this was probably already covered, and the answer is likely to be technobabble that flies right over my head, but what was the problem that slowed everything to a crawl and resulted in so many connections timing out?

We were feeding the hamster the wrong food. Now we're feeding him on food with lots of sugar and different preservatives and additives. It's not good for him in the long run, but it sure makes him hyperactive - that wheel's spinning like crazy!

I think the real answer was that somebody with database experience took a look at the database behind the forums and did a lot of optimizing. I'd have to search for more details.

I probably wouldn't understand the details anyway. So, I gather it was a database issue which has been corrected. Glad things are running smoothly again.
