Are you buying a DDI subscription or not?

I do believe they've said that there will be "tiered" subscriptions, where you can pay less and only have access to the web stuff. In fact, I think I even recall them saying that the proposed fee for what's currently available is going to be the ongoing price for Dungeon/Dragon and such. So you should be quite happy. :)
Uh, are you sure about that? I don't remember any such announcement from WotC, just idle fan speculation. In fact, I'm almost positive there will NOT be tiered pricing at all, at least in current plans. But, I hope you are right and WotC adopts a less expensive plan for those who just want the magazines.

I do as well.

I love the new mags, and the bonus tools. Compendium is usefull as well, but I don't feel like I care too much about the other planend stuff... (Aside froma hey that's neat factor...)

If I could stay with just what's availabl;e now I'd be happy.

I do, however, reserve the right to change my mind and decide I can't ive without the other stuff once we see it! :D

Originally I was going to do just the Dungeon and Dragon subscription, but now I'm not. I don't think what they are offering is worth 60 a year. The amount of content they have been releasing is less than what was in the print forms. True it is cheaper or about the same price as if you subscribed to both, but not worth it in my opinion. Then there's the fact that they will be doing a best of book that you still have to pay for. I expect it will contain all the stuff that is released that isn't part of an actual preview from a book so why pay twice? Now if they offered the subscription so that it included the best of book I might consider it.

I'm very interested to see how this will go. I was hoping that WotC would do the free trial for a couple more months until both Dungeon and Dragon were really running on all cylinders...in that case I'd be much more likely to subscribe.

In the mean time, I wonder about how this will really affect things. I've found that a good preview can make me interested in something to the point where I'll pick it up even if I hadn't originally thought about doing so. Removing the previews makes it much less likely that I'll buy anything I don't already have a preconceived notion to pick up.

I wish them good luck with this, but I'm really not overly hopeful.

There is actualy quite a lot in the magazines here for example is a list of the crunch for the first $20 they gave us free:

As for the best of book I will have to see what articles they put in it.

I've given it some thought and decided that $60 fro a year is worth it for now. If the price inflates by more than $40 for a year long subscription I may have to let it lapse.

I was not originally planning on purchasing DDI subscription, but actually the free-stuff made me realize I might want to. While I didn't like most, I did find some Dragon and especially Dungeon content interesting. However, I doubt if it will be able to continue supporting my game, and I've going to use the free content for several levels (ergo months) still, so I'm not keen on subscribing now. When the time comes, if I'll see some content that I like, I'll subcribe for a short time or something. Or not, if I don't see stuff to make it worth it. Right now, I ain't subscribing - so that's how I voted.

As an aside, I certainly hope there are some good reviews of Dragon and Dungeon here on ENWorld, especially the adventures. If I hear from the reviews that they have started including the features I want, or if there is a review of an adventure that leaves me absolutely needing to have it, I may have to buy a sub for a month to get that issue, or change my mind entirely and sign up for a whole year. I'm not worried about the back issue . . . uhm . . . issue:D. Until they include the features I want, I don't want a regular sub, and won't want the issues that didn't have the features I wanted. Monthly issues will be a case by case thing. Of course, if I end up buying enough individual months to make it more economical to buy a year sub, then who knows. But I don't see that happening until I hear they've changed their format and included my desired features.
