Rant: CHILD Ghost Hunting shows.

I know somewhere in these forums is a ranting thread about ghost hunting shows (I even participated in it). But I have to say I just stumbled upon the biggest pile of steaming crap on HBO.

Get this. HBO has a show called GHOST TRACKERS. It's basically a kid's reality game show version of Ghost Hunters and every other ghost hunting tv show. What annoys me greatly about the show is that it's full of BS. They give the kids different ghost hunting equipment and expect the kids to know how to use them. Then other kids vote on the contestant children's ghost hunt based on how they acted their ability to "use" the equipment and the ability to find evidence of a haunting and their performance.

Here are the problems:

1) The children are ghost hunting in a DRAMATICALLY lit house while carrying a radio and an extensive lighting and camera array (to get "blair witch angles"). These are MAJOR problems since they children often resort to using EMF detectors when they get spooked (and as a result often get high readings).
2) The children do not do background readings anywhere. They only point and click and accept what they get as evidence without trying to weed out false information.
3) The host continually talks to the kids to play psychological games with them. "So and so died in this room and spent the last days of their life sitting in that chair." This often influences how the child judges to vote on a kid's performance. "I think ____ should get a performance vote because he was brave. I wouldn't have sat in that chair after being told that someone died there. (almost an actual judge quote)".

That of course is not mentioning my general pet peeves about ghost hunting shows.

You're watching a show about ghost hunting kids. What did you expect?

On a related note, the following shows would also suck:
- BattleCats
- Canadian Gladiators
- Ennui Factor

Why does this show format sounds familiar?

Oh, yeah. The Japanese TV industry did something like one before.
