Fortitude. The answer is Fortitude (pronounced "42").
When you have sufficient Fortitude, you can handle anything that Life, the Universe, and Everything can throw at you.
Just remember to keep your CON as high as you can conveniently make it (or, in 4e, keep either your STR or CON that high).
