Paul Giamatti is just too tall. Warwick Davis FTW! :D

(er, no, not really.)

Wait, how about Hugh Laurie? Character wouldn't be much of a stretch...

Honestly, it's probably best cast with relative unknowns.

True, I'm sure they'll go with unknowns, but if they do cast some higher profile actors, most of the actors won't need to make a long-term commitment!

I mentioned Crowe & Stone because I had pictured those two as Jaime & Cersei when I read A Game of Thrones years back.

Awesome, for a long time it seemed like it would be dead.

As for actors, one guess is; Alexander Skarsgard. Why? Well HBO seems to quite like him; main-character in Generation Kill and a important side-character in True Blood. For who he would play, hmm... Since he is blond I would go with a Lannister.

Sharon Stone for Cersei Lannister?
How about Jaime Lannister? Russell Crowe is probably too big for HBO.

Both would be too old.

Isn't Cersei in her (mid-to-late) 30s? And thus, Jaime would be too.

EDIT: a friend just told me Jaime was 17ish during Robert's Rebellion, which was 15 years before the events of the AGoT, so around 33 or 34?

Nicole Kidman could do a Cercei Lannister. She can be mid-thirties and blond if necessary. She was ice cold in her Golden Compass role. :)

Great.

Yet another distraction for Martin.

By now, I wouldn't be surprised if A Dance with Dragons was published in 2011. Martin's already woefully late with that book, he might as well go for the record and make us wait longer than he did with A Feast for Crows (which took him five years to write).
