Dave Koz is kickin' it at #1 for me. Life in the Fast Lane is something really spirited and smooth.

Seal is another fave with Walter Beasley coming in 3rd.

Barring that, I tend to go percussion crazy -- Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, the like.

While I like them, I'm not sure George Michael and Seal are actually jazz musicians. I think they're pop musicians with jazz influences.

In addition to examples like the aforementioned Krupa, MMW, and Smith, I'd put Jonas Hellborg, Bill Laswell, Al di Meola/RTF, Charlie Hunter, Miles Davis, Django Reinhart and Jaco Pastorius near the top of my list.

Other notables would be Alex Skolnick, Yusef Lateef, Bernie Worrell, and Herbie Hancock.
