Firefox Issue

OK, this is pobably more of a Firefox issue than an ENWorld issue, but if someone knows that answer, I'd sure appreciate it.

The problem is that when I put my cursor over a thread to get a preview, I used to get a wide preview box that gave me the first couple sentences of the thread. Something got messed up in Firefox, and now when I do the mouse over, I get a tall narrow preview field. We're talking so narrow that it only has room for one word. It's annoying. I tried upgrading to the latest version of Firefox, but that didn't help at all. Does anyone know how I might go about fixing this?

Do you have any addons installed, that might be the source of the problem?

You could try and simply disable the addons, to see if it changes anything.

I have the default firefox stuff (no special add ons or anything) and I don't get the same issue you're experiencing (I get the mouse-over just fine).

So, yeah, as Thanee said, do you have any fancy add-ons?

Are you on firefox 2 or 3?

Firefox 2 used to use an extension to get word-wrapped tooltips, but FF3 built it in (it is what I'm using at the moment).

If you are using FF3 (and feel a little brave) then open a new tab.

Type about:config and press enter. Accept the warning about dragons and be brave.

In the filter box type "alt" (without the quotes)

The first entry should be

browser.display.force_inline_alttext

On my browser it is set to false

What is it set to on your browser?

Cheers

I'm using FF3.

And checking, it looks like it is also set to false.
