Whither Necromancer Games?

Clark is still gung-ho about 4E, so, unfortunately, you'll be satisfied.

But he's also still a lawyer, so to paraphrase Roger Moore as James Bond, "that's the GSL: you don't have it, but I don't either."

To be serious: I think that if they are able to get publishing again, under the Paizo umbrella, that both of us will likely end up getting the products we want. It's just a question of the license being something that they can work with, and it seems like that won't be happening any time soon.

I agree. And actually, as Jack99 (and others) pointed out elsewhere, there is so much for 3.5 already that 4E needs help from companies like Necromancer more than 3.5/Pathfinder does.

Since it looks like Necromancer will not be publishing any more Judges Guild stuff, the only thing left I really want for 3.5/Pathfinder from Necro is the Slumbering Tsar series. (Though I will happily buy anything else they decide to make for Pathfinder.)

I've been away for a while, and now that I'm back, I'm having a hard time finding any information here (or on the always-up-to-date Necromancer Games site) on what's going on with Necromancer Games.

Will the Pathfinder Tome of Horrors still be coming out this summer? What of their 4E monster book?

I was looking forward to his idea of making 4E more like 1E from some blurb I read months ago. I interpreted that as Necromancer Games Unearthed Arcana, but not really sure.

It's a shame to me. Clark's obvious joy for the system was a rallying call. But now Necro has fallen to the wayside, waiting for other publishers to give the green light before they proceed.

Necro was best when it was active, not reactive. While I understand and respect the rational, I miss the old thunder.

It's a bit hard to be active, rather than reactive under the current legal requirements put out by WotC. I think waiting for them to come out with the revised GSL is all Necro can responsibly do. It sucks, but that's the situation they're in.

No. They could have done what Goodman has been doing, but Clark chose not to. I don't understand why, but Clark made the choice he did. Besides, I think Bill and Clark have been enjoying their extra time they don't have to spend getting together yet another adventure.

Well...............thats how gamers see it. Perhaps Wotc doesn't want any help. Its a possibility.

Clark wanted to operate under a license, and had faith in WoTC, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Any lawyer can see that signing up to the GSL is a Very Bad Idea. And Clark is committed to not doing anything that might annoy WoTC like not using a license, or using the OGL to make 4e compatible material. So no more Necromancer.
