advice to anyone still wondering if they should purchase a DDI subscription today

I think I know what you're saying here, and I certainly can believe I have higher standards than other people. :) Either that, or I'm amazingly good at finding bugs and everyone else just misses them.

<snip some details>

I didn't say before that I didn't want to talk about bugs because I might get a response that would refute it; I said I didn't want to get into nitpicks and hash out a bug report over a thread that had nothing directly to do with bugs in the CB.

Thanks for helping me make that one bug report more specific. I feel confident that many if not all of my other reports are pretty solid.
Yea, as I said, I wasn't trying to be snarky at all. I'm glad you are vigilant in helping to improve the product, and it sucks to find bugs.

And, I apologize if it sounded like I was saying your bug-fu was incompetent. Not intentional, at all. My approach was poorly worded.

I was only trying to say that I know some people who are brilliant, amazing people at what they do for a living, yet don't grok the idiosyncrasies of software and the often unseen cascade of issues that can occur with bug testing and reporting.

I can't count how many times I have thought I built a solid app or component and handed it off to a sales guy and they find something buggy in 3 seconds because they are coming from a state of total ignorance to how to use the product.

Yea... programmers should never try to bug-test or QA their own work. :) It's a lesson in pain.

Still not be able to get the account without a credit card... i don´t have one, so I cannot sign in...

as soon as I can sign in with paypal, I will gladly join DDI

The digital tools can be updated later, producing a didital product without bugs is impossible!

I am more worried bout printed yet not erratad books... and in the case of core books i will not buy them in the current state

I simply calculated the price of subscription in my currency with a little lee-way, grabbed a Visa gift card and it worked like a charm... no worries of renew either... ;)

I find that more than a little annoying myself. It would be nice not to worry about having to re-login anytime I want to check something in my gaming nights. But the 30 minute timeout means that I'll have to do so every time I have a question about something.

GAAH. SO DUMB.

What the hell is up with this? Is it deliberate? How can it be accidental? Why would someone possibly make it deliberate?

This has been discussed to death. However, WotC has just announced that the time is being upped to two hours. For what it is worth.

One reason could be to limit the amount of logged on users the back-end needs to keep track of, thereby lowering the load on the servers.

I think it is a good idea to set it lower at the launch of the service, then extending it as they learn more about how the system handles traffic, instead of setting it high, and lowering it when/if they run into problems.
