Added to my wishlist for my next RPGNow purchase. (I like to buy several items at once, as per their suggestion/request on the checkout page :))

Well, I made an RPGNow purchase today, necessitated by OneBadEgg's release of the Witch Doctor, and I do like it :) It's full of backstory and description, and I think it's a great value for the price. It has monsters, and an artifact, in addition to the player information. Here are my feelings on the balance:

· Electric Sting definitely should not stun its target. Possibly daze (but that's still pretty powerful) and with an epic (maybe paragon) feat to upgrade that.
· Electric Sting's attack bonus should increase at 11th level to +4, and at 21st level to +6.
· The natural stalker feat may be working as you intended, but I want to go over it anyway. It give you a +3 racial bonus, but the class grants a +2 racial bonus already, so this feat is effectively +1. Except for the differenty type of bonuses and the racial stacking issue, this feat is the same as skill focus. With both natural stalker and skill focus, a myrddin will have +6 (before training or Dex mod). If this is not supposed to replace the racial +2, then it is a total of +8 (assuming skill focus). If it's supposed to stack with the existing racial bonus, but not skill focus, then it's +5, but it is redundant with the skill focus feat, and so kind of useless. Anyway, I'm just not sure where you're trying to get this feat to fit in.

Hey Fission!

I'm really glad you like the overall product!. We wanted to make sure we included a lot of extra information about the specifics on their culture and all of that. If you use on in your campaign or play one we'd love to hear about it too.

Electric Sting definitely should not stun its target. Possibly daze (but that's still pretty powerful) and with an epic (maybe paragon) feat to upgrade that.

When we play tested the race we didn't find the stun affect to be game breaking, although we can definitely see situations where it would be. Our ultimate goal with Electric Sting was to give Myrddin an attack power similar to that of the Dragonborn, but make it a little bit more focused since it was only attacking one target at a time.

I think what we will do is follow the example that Alluria Publishing set and go over our products with revisions. We'll run it through a few more combat scenarios to give it a little bit more testing and hopefully with time we'll also lessen the need for such revisions.

· Electric Sting's attack bonus should increase at 11th level to +4, and at 21st level to +6.

You're completely right! In fact, I'm looking at the original format of the attack power and it seems that part just wasn't typed up. We'll add this to the revision I mentioned.

As for the feat... the purpose was to add a little bonus by upping the racial +2. It is slightly redundant, but the feat is sort of geared towards someone who wants to be extra stealthy. You would naturally want to take skill focus first, but if you wanted to up it again you could take the Natural Stalker feat. I"ll have to double check if the +3 was intended to be a different bonus though.

Being that it does have the redundancy feel though, we'll definitely take another look and reevaluate it.

:) Woo! Long post. I hope those answers were what you were looking for.

Thank you for giving us some comments and for purchasing the race! We really appreciate having some extra insight and showing us where we made errors will help us make sure that we can produce better material in the future. :-)

I don't think stunning a target necessarily 'feels' game-breaking, but let's take a look at powers that stun from the PHB:
· Figher's anvil of doom lvl13 encounter power, if you're wielding a hammer or mace. This is a standard action power.
· Rogue's stunning strike lvl13 encounter power. This is a standard action power.
· Pelor's radiance channel divinity feat power; only on undead. This is a standard action power.
· Radiant Servant paragon path's solar wrath power; only stuns undead and demons; big burst. This is a standard action power.

There are more, but not until level 15 daily powers. Note that there are no stunning powers in the heroic tier. Electric sting can be used from level 1, and it's only a minor action.

As for the feat . . . if it's supposed to 'replace' the racial +2 bonus to Stealth, consider phrasing it in a way that makes it more clear instead of relying on the players' knowledge of bonus stacking rules. It might be better to just phrase it simply, like it is now (I'm not sure), but it's something to think about. If I were you, I might just make it a feat bonus slightly larger than skill focus's; then it would replace skill focus for myrddins, and it would prevent a single character from getting too big of a Stealth bonus from feats; they should still have at least a little risk when rolling Stealth :P

I'm glad you're going the route of releasing updated pdfs . . . this should be the way everyone does it :)

Great points. I know that you mentioned daze before, but I think what we may end up changing it to is Immobilized. What do you think?

There are many more examples of immobilized throughout the heroic tier and we can probably also include your suggestion of having a feat up the power at higher levels. It also would fulfill our initial goal of hindering the opponent.

Immobilized is probably a much better idea than even dazed; good choice :)
