"I guess we best be moving along then," Tander says. "Wouldn't want to leave young Master Arnest waiting, would we?" he adds with the barest hint of sarcasm.

OOC: Maybe we just walk this time - don't know how much more of the trap-fort-hot-mess Tander^H^H^H^H^H^HI can take ;)

" You will take front Palindrome, I am not going to sacrifice my sweat and blood for your foolishness "
Palindrome smiles a knowing smile and nods at Atreus. "It's okay, buddy. I forgive you."

"And it's because I love that I can forgive."

"And I know that you love, too, with love that is twice is strong as the love of brothers, which would make it four brothers strong, because you need at least two brothers for brotherly love. And I am certain that our four-brother strong relationship can handle these sort of ups and downs, which is why you will gladly place yourself in the line of fire for me, just like I would hide behind cover and take potshots at your enemy for you--from a safe distance and hopefully under total concealment, if not invisibility."

"That's what friends are for."

He peers down the trap door and sighs " Do you have any idea what you might have triggered!? "
"Yep," says Palindrome, "Probably nothing."

The wizard wafts ozone into his face and takes a deep breath. "Smell that? That's the smell of success. I mean, other than the roasted pork scent of burnt human flesh."

He pauses and smacks his lips. "Why do I suddenly feel hungry?"

Palindrome pokes through the remains of the panel, making sure its dead.

Then he walks down stairs and shoves the second barrel over the landing to see what will happen...

[sblock=OOC: Meta-Comment]Check p. 87 in the DMG. You can destroy the panel to disarm spear gauntlets.[/sblock]

[sblock=?!]What's 'Tander^H^H^H^H^H^HI'? Is it a laughing sound?[/sblock]

[sblock=Nerdytenor, how could you?]Traitor! Walk instead of ride in style in our fort? :p

*Sigh* I guess so...[/sblock]

This is kind of a geeky in-joke, but not that funny. ^H is what appears on the screen if you type the delete key in certain computer systems where your keyboard isn't mapped correctly. Often used to show irony when rewording something.

Examples:

"I'm a genius^H^H^H^H^H^Hidiot!"
"I want^H^H^H^Hneed some chocolate"

[sblock=ooc]The fact that I remember the days when you had to pay attention to what character code your backspace key sent... that makes me old, doesn't it? Yeah, I was afraid of that.

About disarming spear gauntlet traps by smashing the control panel... Yeah, the DMG says that, but... That control panel wasn't just controlling a spear gauntlet trap. Look what happens when you fail to disarm a magic crossbow trap. ;) Also, who says the trap in question is a spear gauntlet trap? I made enough mistakes^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H changes to it that I'd have had no qualms having the control panel explode in your face, if I felt there was excessive metagaming happening. As it is, it's perfectly in character for Palindrom to smash the panel; no problems there. Just be aware that it's not entirely a risk-free decision. :)

Oh, and there's no way you're getting that fort around the corner, at least not in one piece.

The control panel spits and sparks a bit more under Palindrome's prodding, but there is no obvious effect. Encouraged, he shoves the second barrel down the next leg of stairs. It booms and thumps its way to an intact halt at the next landing, without triggering any more surprises.

Woe peers down the stairs.

“Let the people rejoice, our barrel yet lives! ... Well, at least this one isn’t spilling its “guts” all over the place.”

He skulks down to the barrel with his guard up, well aware that there are no guarantees to be had but too impatient to play it safe any longer. If another short section of stairs waits around the corner, he kicks the barrel onwards and proceeds behind it.

I’ll take point until you two lovebirds get yourselves sorted out.”

[sblock=OOC]Need to focus hard on studies for the time being, so that’s why I haven’t been much around L4W lately. I’ll likely be back to mostly-daily posting, though, once I get things more organized.[/sblock]

You're ruining my bluff attempt on a fellow player! I didn't read the DMG until after my character smashed the panel. I was kind of expecting it to explode...

Which would have been *really* funny.[/sblock]

"Hey, don't leave without me!" Palindrome yells at Woe.

Palindrome takes one last moment to hug Fort Adie and give her quick kiss. "Don't worry, baby," he whispers to the fort, "I'll come back for you. And we'll be together forever and ever and ever..."

He takes a few frayed threads from the end of a rope and wraps it about his finger.

OOC: Checking the way while walking down the stairs. Perception. (1d20+4=21)

[sblock=Hey, Dunamin...]You do understand that Palindrome thinks the lovebird reference was to himself and fort... :)[/sblock]

Atreus waits til everyone is down the trap door before he ventures after the others.
" Onward it is "

ooc: What's your marching order? In particular, who's in front? Perception checks from the guy at the back aren't likely to succeed.

I think that answers some of your questions. I believe the marching order is : Woe up front followed by Palindrome, Tander and then Atreus.
