May and Beyond previews

Mmm, the dreaming dark assassin is delicious. Reminds me of the doppelganger assassin.

Although I do find it kinda funny that it has a teleportation power, no doubt meant to let it move away - but it has no ranged attacks. But, very cool.

Yeah, this is definitely a melee-oriented assassin! He gets his target all alone and dominates him to the ground while giving him repeated naughty touches.

With their high Dex you could always tack on a magic dagger for a ranged option, though. Or a mind thrust-type psychic power.

Maybe it's purpose is to allow the Assassin to switch its target. Or just run away and come back later. That's what Lurkers often do.

I'm not so sure. This kind of raises the grind alert level to Orange for me:
Dual Mind
Any creature that attacks an assassin must make two attack rolls and use the lower result.

Yeah, that ability jumped out to me as well. It would make more sense if it was specific to the assassin's Will defense.

Also, the Kalashtar had Dual Mind as an ability in 3E. So in 4E, they either don't get it (because this is way too powerful for a racial ability) or Dual Mind of Quori monsters is different than a PC dual mind, which is confusing - and in the MM1 they even tried to avoid that.

Cheers, LT.

I don't particularly have a problem with grind. (IMHO my monsters die too fast), so I'm cool with the above.

So with Oath of Emnity do you have to roll 4 times and take the highest of the lower roll?
