6th lvl Wiz - conjuror-summoner ideas?

I have a 6th level human wizard , Conjuration Specialist. (In the process of levelling from 5th to 6th.) I am trying to specialize in Summoning (i.e. summon monster spell). I already took Augment Summoning.

Any other ides? Any Feats/Classes out there (primarilary WoTC books)?

Thanks,

I'm thinking Sudden Extend. After that, start chewing through the Sudden feats until you get to Sudden Quicken. Since summoned monsters are essentially disposable, you might look at lower level buffs that affect multiple targets, such as haste.

I have a 6th level human druid summoner.
He has
Spell Focus (Conjuration) - 1st
Augmented Summoning -human bonus
Rapid Summoning -3rd - Metamagic feat for the cost of a one spell level you can cast a summons as a standard action - Complete Arcane
Metamagic School Focus (Rapid Summoning) - Allows me to subtract one level from the slot needed for preparing a Rapid Summoning for three slots daily. Complete Mage
Thus I am able to do SNA III (my highest level summons) as a standard action three times a day.
You might want to think about going Malconvoker (Complete Scoundrel) if you can cast [Evil] spells

Not sure how useful this is for you in particular, but there are some really nifty class options out for summoner-conjurer-wizards.

Unearthed Arcana has options for wizard specialists (Rapid Summoning is immensely useful; Enhanced Summoning is also great; not too keen on the Spontaneous Summoning one, though).

And Complete Mage (I think, could also be in PHB2) has the Focused Specialist option, which is also very nice.

As for feats, the only one (apart from the obvious Augment Summoning) I really like for such a character is Sudden Maximize (to maximize the number of summoned creatures when using a higher level spell to summon monsters from a lower level list).

Regular Metamagic Feats in general are not very useful for summoning spells, as it is pretty much always better to prepare a higher level summoning spell instead of a metamagicked lower level one.

Echoing UA's Specialist variants, Focused Specialist from PHB2, and just about any summoning-centric Reserve feats

To paraphrase what I've written elswhere:

1) Check out the Feats (esp. Reserve Feats) & Alternative Class Features:

Imbued Summoning, PHB2 p92 (summoned critters arrive w/beneficial spells)

Cloudy Conjuration, CompMage p40 conjurations accompanied by a cloud of sickening smoke (CompMage p40). The cloud is similar to a Fog cloud spell, and doesn't affect creatures summoned by the spell.

Dimensional Reach reserve feat: if you have a 3rd lvl or higher conjuration spell, you get an at will mage hand effect, and you also get +1 bounus to caster level for conjuration (summoning) spells. (CompArc p41)

Summon Elemental reserve feat: lets you briefly summon elementals, and also givs a +1CL on summoning spells. (CompArc p47-8)

Focused Specialist
ACF: give up 1 additional school of magic and one spell slot per level and gain an additional +2 spells in your specialty school (in addition to your initial +1 spell for specialization). That's 3 per level within your specialty.

Abrupt Jaunt Alternative Class feature (ACF): a 10' at will teleport (PHB2 p70)

Residual Magic tactical feat: lets you apply a single metamagic feat for free to a spell that follows a spell that had been cast with that metamagic feat (CompMage p46). That would let you get a metamagically enhanced summons spell for its usual cost.
Rapid Summoning ACF: Give up familiar to drop SUmmon Monster casting time from 1 full round down to 1 standard act. (UA p60)

Enhanced summoning ACF: give up Scribe Scroll and Wizard bonus feats to gain Augmented summoning and have tougher, stronger, less dispellable creatures (UA p60)

Metamagic School Focus
: 3x day, reduces the cost of applying a metamagic feat to a spell by 1 level- +2levels becomes 1, 1 becomes zero, etc. (CompMage p45)

2) Summoner Domain, CompDiv p141 (adds +2Cl to summon spells). Combine this with Domain Wizard ACF, CompChamp p52, which lets a Wizard exchange a Wiz bonus feat for access to a Domain's granted power. If the PC has any Cleric levels, he gets full access to the Domain.

Combined with the reserve feats I mentioned before, you'd be adding +4CL to your summonings.

See if you can rebuild as a focused specialist conjurer3/master specialist2. Then go malconvoker (complete scoundrel) at lv6+.

You are ideally looking at conjurer3/MS2/malconvoker5/MS+8/archmage2. Your summons are mainly there for battlefield control, moreso with their special abilities, so make sure you familiarize yourself with their respective strengths and weaknesses.

The heroics spell (spell compendium) is also very useful for giving them that specific tactical feat they require to do their job. For example, mage slayer is a fighter feat, and can thus be granted (perhaps via imbue summoning?) to certain monsters like djinni or vrocks as they face off against enemy spellcasters. :D

Go with the rapid summoning and enhanced summoning class features from UA, but skip spontaneous summoning (just fill your normal slots with SM spells).

Reserve elemental feat (complete mage) at lv9, the rest is pretty much up to your summons and how you command them.:)

Check out this thread for more information. You certainly have your homework cut out for you.

There's a feat in Magic of Eberron that effectively doubles the benefit of Augment Summoning on elementals. I think it's called Augment Elemental. Since elementals are frequently among the best things to summon at a given level, it stacks goodness on goodness!
