6th lvl Wiz - conjuror-summoner ideas?

If you mean a wizard becomming a Thaumaturgist. Malconvoker qualifies you.
Well, no, actually I was referring to a problem I have with (almost) every level 20 build I've seen:

The character may have cool abilities on level 20 but in order to get there he sucks for 19 levels and would never even make it to level 20 if you had to actually play through those levels.
Take the nightmare spinner: Is that prestige class any good before you get its key ability at level 10?

Since the OP asked about a level 6 character, I'm just not sure if providing a level 20 build is helpful. At least I'd have liked to see a level-by-level guideline.

You are still a spellcaster. How wrong can you go, when you still have your spells to fall back on at the end of the day? Compare those builds to a wiz20 build. Anything you get has to better than a wiz, which just gets a bonus feat every 5 lvs. ;)

At worst, you are just 1 spellcaster lv behind.

So my advice would be, to simply continue playing your conjurer your way. If something doesn't work, then maybe eschew summon monster spells in favour of other battlefield control spells or something.

Conjurer3/MS2/malconvoker1 is fairly viable. You still cast as a 5th lv wizard, and can thus contribute meaningfully to any party (even a 6th lv one).

Exactly. 1st 5 levels are wizard.

Its not some 15 class hotch-potch its all in one theme.

By 5th level as a wizard with some constructive scribe scroll use you should at least be able to escape (the 1st 5 levels are always the hard ones as a arcane caster). From there you loose a caster level here or there to gain utter mastery and bonuses in another area (often some very sneaky defense tactics others cannot match).

That choice is one of theme and roleplaying and coolness not necessarily a generic min/max one. Of course the boards focus less on such builds and strategies n tactics for them so one has less guidance. Thats a plus in my mind. Tho its good to go looting and killing I like problem solving as well and seeing if I can match the module and others with less 'don't loose a caster level' blah-blah-blah builds which often seem to me to have more spirit and thus bring more joy.. which tho purile is sorta why I play. If i wanted some god mode gore shenanagans there are plenty o shooters for that which do it better and honestly.

Also DMs are prone to give more if your character captures their imagination.

While not a spell, from MIC
Chronocharm of the Uncaring: 1/day cast as a standard action a full round action spell.
