Pathfinder 1E Updated Pathfinder Chronicles?

Falstaff

First Post
Hello,

Do any of you know if Paizo plans to release an updated, Pathfinder RPG version of their flagship setting Pathfinder Chronicles?

I'd like to pick up the setting guide, but if an updated version is on the way I'll wait.

Thanks in advance.

IIRC, no they won't, as it is crunch-light, and fluff-heavy.

So do yourself a favor : you can enjoy it safely.

Thanks. I'll pick it up.

To add to what Stereofm was saying.. When they wrote it, they were well aware that they had a new rules system on the way.

They've said many times that when they did include some new crunch, they were mindful to adopt the same design philosphy that went into the new system.

And that has been true of every Chronicle supplement that has come out since they announced a new ruleset. That is, keep it light on the crunch, and don't include any crunch that may be problematic in the new rules.

That doesn't make those recent supplements "offically" for the new rules, but it should give you peace of mind.

I would expect that for monsters in pre-PFRPG Golarion supplements, major ones will be appearing in updated form at some point in the future. But differences would likely be minor, so using them as they are shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm comfy mixing and matching monsters post-PFRPG with any pre-PFRPG.

There will also likely be fan updates of many of the monsters appearing sometime, likely here at EN World as well as Paizo. ;)

With regard to what liitle crunch that does exist in the main Pathfinder Chronicles setting book, has anyone looked yet at whether any of that crunch is at oldds with the final copy of the Pathfinder Rules? In particular, I'm thinking of the class customization options that appears within the section that discusses the role of the various classes in Golarion. Do those little optional tweaks continue to mesh well with the final PFRPG rules?

For the most part, the class customisation options don't mesh well with final edition Pathfinder. It's unfortunate, but there it is. Just off the top of my head, as one that's been recently discussed, the cleric option doesn't really apply since clerics get their deity's favoured weapon as a proficiency anyway, and with the change to divine power, the full BAB may be too strong. The other stuff looks to be shaky, too. Not that they could have helped that, of course; when they released it, they didn't know what final PFRPG would look like, so they couldn't exactly plan the options to mesh with it.
